Do we need friends at work?

Welcome to our weekly LinkedIn Newsletter: Join us at Brown Table Talk. We will be publishing every week to unpack our thoughts from our weekly Brown Table Talk Podcast- Entering Season 7! We are proud to be part of the LinkedIn Podcast Network! WOHOO!

In our second episode of Brown Table Talk Season 7, we unpack this topic: Do we need friends at work? We explore the following questions:

  • Does having good friends at work mean you are likely to stay there longer?
  • Do you trust your colleagues to confide in them and develop a friendship?
  • Why are organizations so focused on ensuring we become friends with each other?

As always, you have a standing invitation to join us at the Brown Table Talk Podcast. Take a listen to this episode and share it with someone who needs to hear a different perspective today.

Because change requires tough conversations. Tough conversations like these.  And we can’t change what we won’t discuss.

With Much Love and Gratitude, Mita & Dee

Extremely insightful episode! I have been contemplating how to frame my approach/experience with this (as I keep friends separate from work and it was painful to learn this lesson) for an upcoming panel I'm on, so it has been on my mind. I never considered the drivers for the recent push on "having friends" at work and really appreciate your insight that definitely rings true.

Congratulations on Season 7! When Scott MacGregor had you speak with our group at The Outlier Project, I started listening (and learning) to #BrownTableTalk. Thank you for helping me be a better ally.

I really appreciate this episode. So much of what was shared resonates, especially about the emotional safety that comes with setting boundaries.
