Do you need to train operators in how to wrap a pallet?

Just back in this morning from training 20 operatives at one of a chain of UK Wholesale warehouses in the use of our Carewrap Product.

How much training does an operative require in Hand Wrapping a Pallet I hear you say? The answer simply is "not much", but it is imperative that it is done!

Carewrap is applied in a slightly different manner to standard pallet wrap resulting in savings in wrap, more secure pallets, less risk of repetitive strain or traumatic injury. (Think walk forward, not backwards.) These benefits need to be formally pointed out to the operators in the form of a "toolbox talk" Five minutes per group and you have buy-in from the people who can actually make a difference.

From your companies point of view, if you are operationally unable to use a Pallet Wrapping machine, the only way you can achieve consistent quality of wrap and ensure that the process and pallet stability are achieved is through training and the use of a product that minimises fatigue.

On another note, the company mentioned above is saving in excess of £ 80 000 per year by making the switch. (Not to mention saving the disposal of nearly 80 tonnes of waste pallet wrap!)

From time to time, I am minded to share some of the experiences we have gained in contract packaging and packaging materials over the last quarter of century .(and on three different continents!) The topics will cover best practises for packaging (in the Transit Packaging field) and also proven tips that can be implemented in any operational field or Owner Managed Business. Hyper-links to other resources on the topic covered would be most welcome in the comments section below, that way we all keep learning.
