Do You Use a Vision Doc?
We’re five months into 2021. How are you doing on your goals? Are you still excited about this year? For those of you who had a fantastic few months, great job! For those of you who are not happy, you have time! Regardless, I hope you will consider utilizing a digital vision document, so you can constantly think about your desires for this year.
You’ve probably heard of a “vision board,” but you might not have used one in the past. A vision board is essentially a poster that you construct to help you achieve your goals. It contains graphics that represent your wants.
For example, if you desire to buy your dream car at the end of the year, you would put a picture of your dream car on the board. It might sound like something a teenager would do, but that would be a very wise teen since visualization works.
I would not only recommend putting together a vision board but, more importantly, capturing your visions on your phone. Use whatever app or doc you want. I use Apple notes, but that works for me.
I love having this on my phone since it’s with me all the time. Every day, I open my vision doc on my phone and remind myself of what I want to accomplish. Not only does this empower me to visualize my goals coming to fruition, but all of the visuals tie into my strategic year plan.
Here’s what a vision doc can do for you:
- It forces you to focus on your 2021 goals.
- It requires you to review your goals daily and sometimes multiple times a day.
- It allows your brain to process what you want to achieve continually.
With that said, this isn’t some magical formula that will make your goals appear without work. You still need to bust your butt working on what you desire. A vision doc is just going to help give you an edge, so you put yourself in a better position to succeed.
Put together your vision doc:
- Be specific with what you want. One of the best reasons to create this doc is it forces you to think about what you specifically want. Take time on this step. Spend a day or two working on this and thinking about something you really want. For instance, one of my goals is a very specific financial goal in my business.
- Find specific images that represent what you want. You have the world’s information in the palm of your hand. Find pictures that inspire you and capture them in your vision doc.
- Arrange your vision doc properly. I recommend putting your goals, followed by inspirational images, according to priority. For instance, I have five main goals for 2021. Each of my goals in my vision doc is in a specific order according to importance.
- Start and end your day with your vision doc. At the very least, take a long look at your vision doc when you first wake up and when you go to bed.
- Be persistent. By creating a vision doc, you’ll put yourself in a position to keep your goals at the forefront of your mind. You will end up inspiring yourself to take more action.
I challenge you to take the next few days and think about what you want on your vision doc. Keep in mind; your goals are your goals. They don’t need to be financial. You could use a vision doc for family goals, physical goals, spiritual goals, business goals, school goals, and/or personal development goals. A digital doc like this is going to help with whatever you desire. Make it yours. Block off time in your calendar to make this happen, so your 2021 will be the best year ever!
