Does Amazon Allow AI Generated Books?

Amazon allows books written with AI on Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), but authors must disclose AI involvement. You can use AI to write, edit, or enhance your work, but non-disclosure can risk rejection. Ethical concerns arise, especially regarding fact-checking and using AI as a ghostwriter. Amazon limits self-publishing to three books per day to curb low-quality AI-generated content. For third-party publishers, Amazon doesn’t currently require AI disclosure, but all books must meet quality standards.

I’ve written more books than a lot of people (23 are listed on my Amazon author page). I’ve got friends who have written way more than me. And often without the use of AI.

But I also have friends (usually people who have not written as much as I have), that keep insisting that Amazon will not accept any books written by AI.

Even though I use Kindle Direct Publishing (kdp.amazon.com) on a regular basis, I decided to investigate further.

Here is what I know to be true.

Alex Stamford sat hunched over his laptop in the dimly lit coffee shop, his fingers flying across the keyboard. The screen was a sea of flashing charts, numbers, and endless tabs filled with cryptocurrency news, forums, and YouTube tutorials on blockchain technology. He adjusted his thick-rimmed glasses, muttering under his breath about hash rates, proof of work, and decentralized ledgers.

Amanda Burghoff, his long-time friend, sat across from him, stirring her caramel macchiato. She had no idea what Alex was doing but could sense that he was really into it. She couldn’t understand why someone would spend hours obsessing over something called “Ethereum” and “Cardano” when you could just use dollars and, you know, not fry your brain.

“So… what’s all this about again?” Amanda asked, sipping her drink, her blonde curls bouncing as she tilted her head curiously.
