Does Economics Peace equal proper Humanitarian Response?
According to ReliefWeb , one of the declared aid as a response to the humanitarian crisis in Turkey & Syria is worth over 200 Million USD. Other financial aid (1, 2, and, 3), France & EU emergency plan to aid (4).
The point is not about the estimation of the damage or financial value of the humanitarian response. But, can you imagine that there is a possibility to cut that cost by 80% for example?
The answer is, yes!
How?
By being more prepared!
How can we be more prepared?
Let's see the following demonstration:
To coordinate all humanitarian response efforts to respond successfully and effectively, you need 6 components:
As a matter of fact, these six components were summarized and categorized by Lane Kenworthy in his book Social democratic capitalism and the good society. However, Lane spoke of components for a social-political economic system:
1) Democracy in the political sphere,
2) Capitalism: private ownership and markets,
3) Bias education: good-quality K-12 schooling,
4) Expansive, generous public insurance programs,
5) Employment-oriented public services early education, affordable college, retraining, job placement assistance, individualized monitoring and support, lifelong learning,
6) Modest regulation of product and labor markets
What is the relationship between the economy of the humanitarian response and Social Democratic Capitalism?
Simply that what we need for the response is exactly what we need for nations to master preparedness and prosperity!

For instance, preparedness, in both social, economic, and political senses, refers to the existing capacity in each of these three areas that is available to respond to an emergency.
As a result:
A knowledgeable society with a vital economy and a democratic governance system forms a strong base for having the ability to Making A Plan and Building A Kit.
Is that all?
No, not really, because the efficiency and prosperity potential varies depending on the complementary elements that nations invest in them differently. Specifically speaking, social security, capitalism's regulation, and equal opportunities assurances.
How is that related to the humanitarian response?
The relationship lies within the folds of Economic Peace:
1) Peace, in one way or another, is a Political decision, and to reach this decision we require stability, equality, living power (which, in a way, purchasing power), security, freedom, knowledge, and many others.
2) What consolidates this decision the most is economic growth (which nurtures equality and living power) and prosperity (which builds the capacity to mobilize resources to serve others in need).
3) The result is a developed and upgraded capacity to respond to any emergency inside or outside the territory.
In conclusion, with wars, deglobalization, and humanitarian and economic crises, we are drafting apart farther and farther. To this end, and to be more prepared, it is a must to acknowledge that it is time to upscale how we are functioning as societies; it is time to embrace our connectivity; and it is definitely time to make the most out of peace and economy to help end the suffering of those in need and build a prosperous future for all of us.
PS: There is no sole solution, and Social Democratic Capitalism has several forms, however, it is a significant start to think of its components while modifying constitutions and making policies!
