Does Social media trigger procrastination ?

Well,Social media can be a real time suck if you let it. Do you ever hop on over to Instagram with all of the intentions of posting, being social, and creating content, but find yourself lost within a stream of videos ? All of a sudden an hour goes by and you haven’t accomplished anything ? And the worst part is, now you have to actually get up and get to your other tasks!

As someone who has struggled with procrastination myself, I understand how difficult it can be to break free from the cycle of distraction caused by social media.I began by disabling my Instagram and Facebook. Reflexively, I used to check my phone but was left with my finger hovering over the screen. The reflex to scroll was still there, a deep notch in the wood, but I no longer had anything to scroll. As the weeks wore on, the reflex to check social media began to wear off.

Here are the few tips which i followed,it might help you as well :

Time Management - First thing i did was to work on my time Management,i made notes and set targets for what needs to be done on a particular day and how much time i should give to which activity. It truly helps in increasing your Focus towards your goals.

Find a replacement activity- A replacement acitivity that is more productive and fulfilling helps whenever you felt an urge to check social media. For example, instead of scrolling through Instagram, take a quick walk, meditate, or read a book. This helped you train your brain to associate the impulse to distract with a positive habit instead of a negative one.

Set a purpose - Decide why you're going to spend time on social media before you ever open the app. No matter how much time you spend on social media, you should always have a strategy. Your timer will go off and you'll realize you've wasted it all on photo likes and celebrity news if you don't have anything specific in mind. Stick to your purpose everytime you spend time on Social Media.

Set boundaries - Boundaries are important in every area of our lives and especially when it comes to social media. Social media, like I said earlier, can be a time suck, and even if you use the above tips you may still find yourself spending way more time on there trying to market your practice than you think you should be. This is why you need to set boundaries around how often you will post, how often you will engage, and so on, and then stick to those boundaries! Make them non-negotiable so you actually have time to do other things.
