The dominoes are falling. The arena set-up goes on.
Once the sports floor has been laid and glued, the next work steps begin. It makes sense to start with the goals supplied by Benz Sport. The video replay technology from VOGO is then installed and wired to the goals. It provides video evidence in the case of uncertain goal decisions. The goal light technology is also installed at the goal. It is connected to the Jugdes Table and signals every break in the match or the end of the half-times.
When the goals are in place, the LED boards on the shortside and the catchnets can be installed 2m behind the goal line. The tower camera is then installed, adjusted and aligned by HBS. The workstations for the photographers behind the goal will also be set up. This includes benches, cabled internet connections as well as a sufficient number of power supplies to ensure the smooth and fast upload of photos. The longside LED board system, the floor stickers and the substitution area are installed at the same time as the goals. The floor stickers in particular are an own form of art. They have to be applied in the correct position (depending on the position of the main camera), without bubbles or wrinkles. A task that has already caused many people to despair.
For all these tasks, there are professionals on site who are involved in numerous top events. As TIS Manager, I was responsible for coordination, made sure the timetables were adhered to and mediated if there were any problems with the set-up. This was also the case at the heart of the event - the substitution area.

This includes not only the team area with the substitution benches or the judges' table. In the background at the support table, the match is technically assisted and prepared. This is where our colleagues from the floor management, arena entertainment and the announcers are based. They are joined by VOGO, Live Tracking from KINEXON Sports & Media, Swiss Timing Ltd, TV Graphics and Infront Sports & Media AG. They all ensure that the premium product EHF EURO is well communicated to spectators and fans.
Finally, some fine-tuning takes place and then together with the event branding in the inner area, the arena set-up for the TV-relevant area is ready.
During a test match, all procedures are run through to ensure the best possible start to the first match day.
It's a long process, but worth every effort when the first match is started and the atmosphere in the arena is really buzzing.
