Donate to support Palestinians and Gaza

Dear friends

I know that your heart is breaking, as is mine – and the hearts of millions around the world – as we watch this genocide that continues to outdo itself in barbarities each day. I feel like the English language has no words to express the horrors that are being inflicted on Palestinians. For the last three days, 400,000 people in Northern Gaza and the Jabalia refugee camp have had no food or water (!), internet access and communications are cut off, and I’m sure you’ve seen the photos of the forced march in progress.

I had the chance a few weeks ago to hear Motaz Azaiza, Gazan photojournalist, at a fundraiser for UNRWA USA * with a dear friend from JVP (Jewish Voice for Peace). I encourage you to get offline – I cannot overstate how much in-person events will sustain you in these times!

You can make a difference! Donate to boots-on-the-ground organizations!

Today I’m writing because support for organizations with a physical presence on the ground is a very concrete action you can take as things are battled out across the historic lands of Palestine.

Here are some vetted organizations. Please consider a donation of any size.

UNRWA (the UN Relief and Works Agency) has carried out direct relief and works programs for Palestine refugees since 1949. They provide primary and vocational education, primary health care, relief and social services, infrastructure and camp improvement, microfinance and emergency response. And, as you know, they’ve been widely defunded through the genocide. More than 5 million Palestine refugees are scattered throughout the Middle East, originally forced out in the Nakba 76 years ago. Donate here.

Gaza Soup Kitchen (photos above) provides hot meals for starved Palestinian kids in north Gaza. They have raised 92% of their $2,000,000 goal – help take them over the top! You can find them on Instagram here.

Help Fund Gaza is centralizing Go Fund Me campaigns and you can donate directly to a person or family. They are focused on ensuring basic necessities get to civilians and/or helping them to evacuate.

Rammun Foundation is supporting Palestinians in Egypt with life-saving medical assistance and equitable access to healthcare Outside of Gaza, this population is the most vulnerable because of lack of access to work, school, healthcare…

Rebuilding Alliance has been feeding Gaza families since October 7 and you can give to their Gaza Emergency Appeal here and find other worthy organizations on their home page.

Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors without Borders teams in Gaza have provided 14,000 inpatient admissions.7,500 surgeries, 18,000 individual mental health sessions. 34,000 treatments for diarrhea and 27,500 people treated for physical violence since 7 October 2023. Six of their staff are unreachable today due to the electricity blackout in Jabalia camp.

The Sameer Project is a donations based aid initiative for Gaza led by Palestinians with campaigns for tents, cash aid and medical in South Gaza and food, water, diapers + milk, medical aid in North Gaza. Venmo and Paypal links on their Linktree page.

In solidarity with Palestine,

Karen
