Don't Let Time Steal Their Dreams!

Don't Let Time Steal Their Dreams!

When our daughter turns 16, we parents often say:

"She’s still studying; let her finish her education first."

At 17: "She needs more time to study."

At 18: "She has to apply for her degree."

At 20: "A marriage proposal has come, but the boy isn’t as educated as her. We can’t agree to that."

At 21: "It’s a proposal, but we don’t marry outside our caste."

At 22: "The boy doesn’t earn enough to keep our daughter happy, so no."

At 23: "The boy has a job, but the salary isn’t good enough, so no."

At 24: "The boy’s complexion isn’t fair, and our daughter is very fair-skinned, so the match doesn’t work."

At 25: "The boy doesn’t own a house and lives in a rental, so no."

At 26: "The boy looks older than our daughter, so no."

At 27: "The boy already has a wife, so no."

At 28: "We can’t marry her to a widower."

At 30: "Pir Sahib, please pray for our daughter. Many proposals come, but none seem suitable."

At 32: "Seeing white strands in our daughter’s hair, the father falls ill with worry."

At 35: "The girl is now hopeless."

At 38: "A proposal arrives from a wealthy 60-year-old man with four grown and married children. All that’s left is to care for him."

At 40: "I don’t want to marry anymore. Who would marry me now?"

Heartfelt Perspective:

This cycle of overthinking and societal pressures often leads to lost dreams and broken spirits. As parents, it’s our duty to not just protect but also empower our children. Marriage is not a trophy for the perfect match—it’s a right and a natural part of life that shouldn’t be delayed due to superficial reasons.

Let’s change our mindset before it’s too late. Daughters are not meant to feel burdened or hopeless. They deserve love, support, and the opportunity to build a home of their own without unnecessary barriers.

Call to Action:

Let’s spark a change in our thinking! Share your thoughts, experiences, or insights in the comments. How can we as a society ensure we prioritize the happiness of our daughters over societal expectations? Your voice can make a difference.
