Dream Job Pursuit. Epilogue.

Dream Job Pursuit. Epilogue.

Dream Job Pursuit. Epilogue.

In four months, Olya took part in 18 different types of interviews (introductions, competency-based interviews, behavioural interviews, etc.). The most vivid episodes of this experience were captured in a small script in the series that you have already watched.

Make yourselves comfortable. Camera, action. The final episode awaits you.

Scrolling through her imaginary job-hunting Tinder, swiping left 90% of the time, Olya knew that from the remaining 10% swipes to the right would fire the very super match she so believed in.

1️⃣ The plot.

Olya knew exactly what segment, format and level she wanted to work in, and she knew exactly what she wanted to do. Her intention was lined up with an strict but so reliable SMART that had never yet failed.

Miracle or luck, persistence or faith, work on herself or interest, but each time Olya started the search for her dream company from the beginning, threading the experience of previous interviews with gems on her necklace - analysing mistakes, writing down all the questions that were asked at the meetings and listening to the emotions those questions evoked.

Nothing was perfect on this journey of nearly 5 months: Olya stumbled, recruiters made mistakes. And the situation in the country and the world has not been perfect. It's like with the birth of a child - no matter how well you are prepared, you will never be 100% ready for this event. It's the same here - there will never be a perfect right time and conditions to find a job.

It's always scary…

But it's so interesting and rewarding!

Olga did not believe in big slogans about success, but she knew that if she really tries and ends each interview with the feeling "I did everything right here", sooner or later everything will work out.

2️⃣ The upshot. Company Y.

Olga received a call from the recruiter of Company Y while she and her younger son were admiring the aeroplanes taking off on the Boryspil highway. At that time our hero got used to looking through job vacancies regularly and applied to the most interesting ones immediately. The latest bilingual version of her CV was on her phone. Always ready to be sent.

From the moment she clicked "Send CV" to the phone call five minutes passed. And this speed was kept during the whole communication with the company.

- Hello Olga. You have just applied to a vacancy from company Y. I'm calling you because the link to your linkdin does not work for some reason.

"What a hell. Why it's not working again" - thought Olga and nonchalantly answered:

- Wow, what speed! I'll definitely double-check the links. Thank you for telling me.

- Great. Let's make an appointment in zoom?

- Yeah, sure.

All the communication with Company Y reminded Olya of the high-speed processor of the latest iPhone. Before you even think about something, you get a call to set up your next meeting or to tell you something important.

The tempo set by this company was upbeat, sporty and yet light and interesting. They built their hiring process as if they lived in another universe where unprofessionalism cannot happen. No, they were not pink unicorns jumping around in lavender fields. They were people, genuinely interested in finding the right person for the right place.

The Y company selection process was like an elusive beauty:

🟣 Mona Lisa canvases when you want to stop and keep looking

🟣 The first chords of the most beautiful symphony, when you freeze in anticipation of inspiration

🟣 The last minutes of a great workout in the gym, when you've already completed the whole training program, but you're still full of energy and getting high from it.

What awaited Olga in the process?

A step-by-step thrilling quest:

1️⃣ Meet the recruitment consultant from Company Y. A nice networK - DONE.

2️⃣ Competency-based interview after which Olya felt she finished a hot burpee. Brain crepitation? DONE.

3️⃣ Ability testing for time. Don't ask. Hard as shit. DONE.

4️⃣ A comprehensive English language test. Come out with a sweat on your forehead - DONE.

5️⃣ A comprehensive test assignment involving working with a large data set, reading KPIs and creating a business case. Faint, wake up and make it. DONE.

6️⃣ Intermediate meeting with one of the managers of company Y as part of the task assignment. Maximum coincidence in values and mindset. A state of "Is that real?". DONE.

7️⃣ Task presentation. "God why am I not scared?" DONE.

The whole process was inexorably reminiscent of a marathon where you're only competing with yourself and relentlessly burning with curiosity, will you take the next level?

At 10:00 AM one day, Ole received a call from Company Y saying that the decision had been made and they were preparing an offer for her. At 2pm on the same day, the offer was in the mailbox.

Throughout this tabata, which included only a few breaks, there were two things that Olya likes the most and that set this company apart from others:

📌 They had never once seen Olga in person. The whole process was in a remote format. And that's WOW because they don't need to see the candidate in person to check their competencies. The world has become flat now and there are fewer and fewer processes that can't be done online.

📌 During the process Olya never felt she was in an interview, exam, presentation, etc. Everyone involved in the process communicated as if it was just a business meeting regarding the tasks and the challenges. Yes, the expertise was checked in 3D, but this never made her feel that she was being examined.  Each time Olga reminded herself that if it would not end with an offer, it would be a great network anyway.

Olya accepted the offer.

She has absolutely no clue what awaits her next, but already today she is very grateful for such a beautiful hiring process created by this company. It is truly worth a lot and it is a great reason to be proud.

Let's wish Ola the same courage, and to all viewers, inspiration and motivation to make your own personal steps to your dream company.
