"Dreams of Golden Glory"
Hey there, Happy Friday.
Earlier this week we celebrated President’s Day. For most, this means an extended weekend probably filled with some extra family time, and maybe even some work on a project or something that we’ve been procrastinating on.
It wasn’t until later in the week though, after we had returned to work, that I really reflected on President’s Day. Specifically, it wasn’t until I was on LinkedIn the following day, when I saw a picture of Mount Rushmore that was very similar to the one that I and many of you probably also shared to commemorate the day.
The picture featured a quote from Theodore Roosevelt that read:
“The dreams of golden glory in the future will not come true unless, high of heart and strong of hand, by our own mighty deeds we make them come true.”
Now that quote instantly got me fired up, and I certainly hope it does for you as well.
It paints an incredibly clear picture of what’s at stake.
When we start our businesses, enter into a field, or when we set out to reach our goals at the beginning of a new year we have these oftentimes great visions for what it is we hope to achieve. Those “dreams of golden glory,” Teddy Roosevelt was talking about.
But not often enough do we think about the “mighty deeds” we must take in order to make them come true.
The things that we have to do each and every day to create improvement and momentum towards our goal.
It’s something that we need to continually remind ourselves of, that the dream of the golden glory won’t come true unless we make it come true ourselves through our actions each and every day.
So as we head into the weekend, before we come back to our places of work on Monday, remind yourself and prepare yourself for what it is you’re going to have to do every day, the hard work and the growth you’ll have to go through in order to get to those “dreams of golden glory.”
They’re there, right on the other side of all those “mighty deeds”.
