Dubai Supreme Council of Energy Advances Carbon Neutrality; Saudi Arabia Announces Transformative 3.6 GW Power Projects and More...

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), presided over the Council’s 85th meeting, held virtually. The session brought together prominent officials, including HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Council, and HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the DSCE.


Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), ACWA Power, and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) have signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) for two major power generation projects: Rumah 1 and Nairyah 1. With a combined capacity of 3.6 GW, these Independent Power Plant (IPP) projects represent a significant step in advancing Saudi Arabia’s sustainable energy goals.


In a pivotal move at COP 29, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Ahmed Al Tayer, Chairman of the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), and Abdallah Al Dardari, UN Assistant Secretary General & Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), signed a new partnership agreement aimed at advancing global climate action.


Envision Energy ’s Senior Vice President and Head of International Business Products Line, Xu Kane, participated in several panel discussions at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan. As a representative of leading global renewable energy companies, Kane focused on advancing the global renewable energy agenda.


In a significant development, Dukgeun Ahn, South Korea’s Minister for Trade, Industry, and Energy, met with Qatar’s Minister of Energy, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, in Seoul today for the Korea-Qatar Energy Ministers’ Meeting. The meeting marks a continuation of the growing energy cooperation between the two nations, with Qatar currently serving as South Korea’s second-largest supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as of 2023.
