EcoVadis rates Siemens Mobility sustainability leader in rail

We’re proud to announce that we’ve recently scored 81 out of 100 in the EcoVadis Sustainability Ratings. This currently places us as a leader in the rail industry and in the top 1 percent of all companies assessed by this globally recognized body. With our sustainability strategy and numerous physical and digital solutions that help put customers on the path towards decarbonization, we are laying the groundwork for a more sustainable future in mobility.

EcoVadis: building global trust in business sustainability

EcoVadis is renowned worldwide as a leading provider of sustainability ratings, offering comprehensive insights into the environmental, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement performance of companies. On its platform, users can easily access so-called “sustainability scorecards”, which offer detailed and quick insights into suppliers. This allows companies to check and monitor their suppliers’ sustainability performance.

By securing a high ranking and a good sustainability scorecard on this platform, we’re leading the way for our sector. 2. Our full-automation solutions for metro systems help maximize capacity and enhance the passenger experience, e.g. through flexible trip planning, higher reliability and live travel information. The digital upgrade also reduces traction energy consumption by up to 20% and enables performance increases to meet the growing demand in transportation.
3. Our digital asset management for rail systems maximize the value of rail assets over their entire lifecycle, providing intelligent support for improved decision-making. With data-driven asset performance management and asset investment planning tools, rail systems’ life cycle costs and renewal strategies can be improved to maximize their availability and operational efficiency.

Of course, we also embed sustainability deep within our own operations. It all starts with having the right data and IT solutions at hand when designing products, e.g. so their environmental performance can be demonstrated in digital product passports, so called EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations). The same holds true for our internal net zero program. Since you can only manage what you can measure, a sustainability data cloud with mission critical ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) data serves as the basis for defining our sustainability performance, helping us to optimize existing sites, production processes and supplier relationships.
