There is a twist, though. The authors have flipped the letters in the acronym DEI (or DE&I) to ID&E. Here's their explanation:
“We believe that your organization should be as welcoming and as safe a place to work as your home would be for employees to visit. For this reason, we prioritize the importance of inclusion. Putting the I before the D and E is a gentle and intentional reminder of the primary importance of inclusion”, say Pate and Stutz.
We’ve watched concepts such as inclusion, equity, unconscious bias, Inclusive Leadership, microinequities, microaggressions, and intersectionality finally move into everyday dialogue.

Despite the pullback of late, with "ID&E" being used as fuel for a fabricated culture war, there has been substantial growth in legitimate dialogue. Folks around the globe are coming around to the realization that ID&E is a real need everywhere.
We spent the majority of the episode defining ID&E within a practical, leader-friendly framework to equip leaders with the actionable tools they’ve been searching for.
