Military Transport Aircraft Receives Sensor Automation Software

Overwatch Imaging has delivered its Automated Sensor Operator (ASO) for the SASEMAR CASA CN-235, providing automation capabilities for the aircraft’s full motion video (FMV) gimbals.

ASO is an AI-enabled automation software for FMVs, controlling sensor steering, collecting and analyzing raw data, and reporting actionable intelligence in real-time. It will aid in wide-area maritime search and situational awareness missions onboard the SASEMAR CASA CN-235.

The integration of Overwatch Imaging’s ASO is part of a major collaborative effort between SASEMAR, Airborne Technologies, Schiebel , and others, under the iSAR SASEMAR initiative.

“Overwatch Imaging’s ASO software acts like an autopilot for FMV Gimbals, automating large area, small object search tasks that can be extremely challenging and tedious for human operators to conduct.” - Adam Lapierre , Overwatch Imaging Marketing Manager.

The Effect of Clean Hulls on Energy Saving

Greensea IQ has released a research paper outlining the positive effect that their EverClean hull cleaning robot had on the greenhouse gas emissions of two international shipping vessels.

The EverClean program from Greensea IQ is a robotic solution that aims to prevent the deterioration of a maritime vessel’s hull condition from deteriorating after undocking, proactively maintaining it fouling-free and operating without a fuel penalty.

Hull condition can have a significant effect on shipping efficiency and, as a result, can reduce an international shipping vessel’s ship’s carbon intensity.

Key Details of Electronic Speed Controllers

Hargrave Technologies has discussed the details around its brushless DC motor (BLDC) electronic speed controllers (ESC), covering the difference between bus and phase current, how the company rates its ESCs, and diving into the complexities around powering ESCs.

Hargrave Technologies’ BLDC ESCs control the motor’s speed by changing the voltage on the outputs to the motor (called the phase voltage).

The company rates ESCs by the phase current they can output under continuous and peak operating conditions. The amount of heat generated by an ESC is dependent mostly on the current output at any given time.

Revolutionary Miniature FOG IMUs by Fizoptika Malta

The cutting-edge Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) from Fizoptika Malta are designed to be the most miniature and advanced in the industry.

Fizoptika Malta’s FOG IMUs incorporate an exclusive 40-micron polarization maintaining (PM) optical fiber. This specialized fiber retains its optical guiding capabilities even under extreme deformations, enabling the fabrication of all fiber optic components directly on a single fiber length.

This unique process involves shaping the fiber at high temperatures when quartz glass becomes ductile, resulting in a spliceless, highly integrated system.

Fizoptika Malta leverages proprietary in-line technology to set new standards in high accuracy low-SWaP inertial measurement products.
