Welcome to EdTech Connect with Carrie Conover. I'm a straight-to-the-point person (you've probably picked up on that if you've followed me for any length of time). Let's dive into the purpose of my first newsletter on LinkedIn.

I created this newsletter to give you a glimpse of what has come across my desk in the past few weeks. I'll be sharing my own content, resources that I find valuable, and profiles of individuals I'd like to celebrate, all related to EdTech and self-improvement. Additionally, I'll be sharing more about myself in Carrie's Corner. Welcome to EdTech Connect with Carrie.

One of the big projects I'm working on is a new course, EdTech School with Carrie Conover (launching July 1, 2023). During my building and creation process, I ran into a company I have yet to have much exposure to in the past: Edulastic.

Check out Edulastic if you are looking for

  • an innovative and efficient way to assess your students' progress.
  • A cutting-edge platform in which you can create and administer assessments tailored to your students' needs.
  • Real-time data and analytics, where you can easily track student progress and adjust your teaching accordingly.

And honestly, props to their marketing team for building a clean, easy-to-digest, and fun-to-peruse website.

Less than half of students reported that they were engaged with school in 2021. Sometimes, it takes a little extra motivation to fully grab students’ attention. This inevitably puts a lot of responsibility on the teacher to do everything he or she can to reel the kids in. Take a look at these awesome positive behavior apps/websites that will motivate your class to be the best that they can be.

3 Reasons You're Not Getting a Second Interview as a Transitioning Teacher

EdTech jobs for teachers can be difficult to come by, let alone get hired for. There are only so many jobs available at a time, and the competition is fierce. Maybe you have had a few first-round interviews, but you can't seem to get past the first round. I’m sharing three possible reasons why you’re not getting asked back for another round of interviews at your favorite EdTech company.

Many interviews now take place via video, and this trend is unlikely to change in the immediate future. If you’re struggling to present yourself in a polished, confident, and professional manner on camera, you may struggle to land that second interview. Here are some tips for creating a more appealing on-camera presence, not just for interviews but anytime you need to communicate over video: Keep reading this blog post here.

Classroom to Boardroom Alumni

Natalie Cataldo, M.Ed , former teacher turned professional learning specialist with Paper , emerged from the C to B course in 2022 ready for her next step in her teacher transition. In my latest podcast episode, I sat down with Natalie to recount her journey out of the classroom, through the course, and into her latest role in EdTech.

Carrie's Corner

This time of year is always a whirlwind for me. Spring brings on lots of sporting events (volleyball, soccer, baseball, dance, tennis), which means lots of time spent in my car and working from any grocery store, Starbucks, or Panera I can find along the way.

Spring also brings a sense of renewal to my business. It is the slowest time of year for educators 2 educators and the busiest time of year for EdTech School .

For the past two weeks, I've been completely revamping and flushing out the Classroom to Boardroom course, and 10 of my current members are beta-testing the new coursework. I look forward to releasing the new course to all members in mid-May!

One member stated that I have at least quadrupled the value of the course - and I agree!

Besides the revamp of the course, I'm working with my team to coordinate a BIG website refresh and photo shoot in May. I'm working with a stylist to assemble my looks, which is a fun treat. I can't wait to reveal the new website on July 1st.

Last week, I spent time with my colleagues in human resources at School Specialty . Here's a shot from our morning together. It reminded me how much I've missed being on-site with my favorite EdTech Teams.

Question of the Week:

In the comments below, answer the following questions:

  1. Of the sports and activities I listed in Carrie's Corner, which activity do I personally participate in 3-5 times a week?
  2. What is your hobby? What do you love to do in your free time?

Thank you for spending time with me today! I hope you find these resources useful and will subscribe to the EdTech Connect with Carrie newsletter.
