Edo Political decision 'One Of The Most horrendously terrible In Nigeria's Set of experiences,' Says Jake Epelle

Jake Epelle founder of The Albino Foundation (TAF) Africa , has portrayed the new political decision in Edo state as one of the most awful governorship races in the country's set of experiences.

“It’s unfortunate that I will personally describe this election as one of the worst taking into cognizance the level of preparation and assurance.

“I thought that INEC in general would take this election and perform credibly well so that they could begin to redeem the confidence and trust deficit they suffered in the previous election.”

The candidate of the APC party Monday Okepboholo was proclaimed the champ by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with 291,667 votes after defeating PDP’s Asue Ighodalo who polled 247,274 votes and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata who acquired 22,763 votes.

“I don’t know why we keep having these logistical problems over the years. INEC should look the other way especially when it comes to the road transport union they have been seen and known to be ineffective and not showing when to show up even when money has been given to them,” he stated.

Saturday’s political race was defaced by fights from the allies of the PDP who unequivocally set that the outcomes were created and didn't address the desire of individuals.

The PDP governors led to Edo by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, blamed a portion of the outcomes reported, saying they don't count with those on IReV.

Referring to a joint assertion from YIAGA Africa and the Women’s Trust Fund, which illustrated the issues encompassing the political race, the TAF president cautioned that relieving squandered assets during electioneering ought to be appropriately tended to or the impending Ondo governorship political decision and the 2027 general decisions would face a similar outcome.

“You will see that we delivered a trust proclamation by YAGGA and ladies' trust asset and that assertion is an unequivocal image of what happened and what is as yet working out, and we are starting to see a future playbook to come.

"On the off chance that we don't require some investment and right a portion of these issues you will see exactly the same thing working out in Ondo or even in the 2027 general political decision.

“It is deeply concerning, especially considering the huge amount of money and resources invested. The political class has unfortunately undermined the democratic values we are all working toward,” Epelle expressed.

Considering past races, he noticed that regardless of the difficulties presented by the Coronavirus pandemic, electing processes then appeared to be more sound, adding that while inconsistencies were available, the general results of past decisions seemed more attractive than what was seen as of late.

“I think maybe the COVID was a blessing in disguise because somehow some of the processes and the provisions despite the harsh realities of that time were followed to a large extent and we saw what looked impossible the emergence of a political figure that was with hot contention with its political masters.”

Epelle accentuated that his scrutinize did not depend on any sectarian view, expressing “I am apolitical. I don’t care who wins. In this context, both the APC and PDP violated the rules.”

In spite of his worries, Epelle praised the media, for their broad and comprehensive political decision inclusion, lauding journalists for their on-the-ground appraisals, frequently in testing conditions.
