Ego: The Silent Saboteur

Ego: The Silent Saboteur

In the grand tapestry of human emotions, ego often stands out as a silent saboteur. It thrives in the absence of pure belief, gnawing away at our ability to trust, connect, and ultimately, to grow. This belief doesn’t necessarily need to be in a higher power or a deity; it can be in something as simple and profound as the people who have taught us, guided us, and shown us the way.

The New Entrant Scenario

Imagine this: You’re a new entrant to a company, fresh and eager to prove yourself. Your colleagues guide you on the company’s rules, the do's and don’ts that ensure a smooth workflow. Instead of embracing their guidance, you start challenging their advice. This attitude, stemming from a place of ego, not only disrupts your learning curve but also reflects poorly on your work. Over time, this approach can lead to your replacement, not because you lack capability, but because your ego blinded you from accepting guidance.

The Universality of Ego

This scenario is a universal truth for anyone whose heart is filled with ego. It’s true for me too. Even as I write this, I am not immune to ego, anger, or my own inability to trust fully. These emotions often cause suffering, obstructing my path to pure bliss.

The Path to Bliss: Trust and Belief

If you want to replace suffering with bliss, the solution is simple yet profound: trust the person who taught you how to walk, talk, and live. This often means our parents, who may be the closest manifestation of divine love on Earth. If trusting in a higher power feels distant, start with the ones who have always been there for you.

For those who are unfortunate enough to have lost their parents, look to your elders. They are the next closest option, bearing wisdom and guidance that can help you navigate life’s challenges. Trust in their experience and let it guide you.

Overcoming Stress Through Surrender

The key to overcoming stress and finding bliss lies in being the best student. Surrender completely to the learning process. Trust the journey, trust the people who guide you, and believe in their intentions. This doesn’t mean blind faith, but rather a heartfelt trust that the guidance you receive is for your betterment.

In our professional and personal lives, this translates to respecting and valuing the wisdom of those who came before us. It means acknowledging that while we may have our ideas and innovations, there is always something to learn from others.

Embracing Humility

Humility is the antidote to ego. By embracing humility, we open ourselves to new experiences, new knowledge, and new ways of thinking. We allow ourselves to grow, to be molded, and to become better versions of ourselves.

Conclusion

Ego is a natural part of being human, but it doesn’t have to dominate our lives. By placing trust in those who have guided us—be it parents, elders, or mentors—we can find a path to true bliss. Let go of the ego, embrace humility, and allow yourself to be a student of life. In doing so, you will not only overcome stress but also find a deeper, more fulfilling connection with the world around you.

Remember, the journey to pure bliss starts with a simple step: trust. Trust those who teach, guide, and support you, and watch as your life transforms in ways you never imagined.
