In 1968 he began planting pines in Uverito, south of Monagas. You can see these 550,000 hectares of forest on the roadside. The initiative of José Joaquín Cabrera-Malo, a Venezuelan forestry engineer and agronomist, who together with the Corporación Venezolana de Guayana (CVG) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, began the planting of hundreds of pine trees.
did the first tests of Caribbean pine sowing in the Guanipa Table because the strength of the winds was destroying the little vegetal layer that covered it.
In 30 years it became the largest man-made forest in the world, a miracle that also led to spectacular climate change and saved the Guanipa Mesa from becoming one big desert. Currently, in the Uverito Forest, more than thirty companies process Caribbean pine wood for industrial and commercial uses.
A few years ago, with Masisa's institutional, social and environmental commitment, she looked for some craftsmen, created playful toys with wood and motivated the children to paint them. There were extraordinary exhibitions in museums all over the country. It is a joint work with the Rotary Orinoco and Masisa and understand what it means to do a productive job, help with the maintenance of the home and know that to make handmade wooden toys, covered by a Covenin standard, to be used by children throughout the country.
Then came the photographic hunts. Summon professional and amateur photographers to tour the forest and the banks of the Orinoco, and capture its fauna and flora. Participants were impressed with the landscape and the variety of species.
