Elon Musk's AI Company, Web 3 Cellphones, and Robot Dogs! Oh My!

Hi Friends,

Today we are going to dive into Elon Musk’s new AI company, the new web 3 cellphone on the market, and the craze around Auto-GPT. For such a stagnant economy, there have been huge leaps of progress in the past week that will impact the future of how this whole AI debacle shapes up.

Elon Musk’s New AI Company Called X AI

For starters, isn’t it a little suspicious that Elon Musk Starts a new company called X AI right after he announces that he signed the moratorium against AI development?? Seems like his motivation is to ensure that he has enough time to catch up to the other competitors like Open AI, and Google in this race to win market share. But who actually believes they will genuinely pause development? It’s clear that the leaders in this space seem to be overly confident that they should be allowed to build AI but very concerned for the implications of their competitor’s technology. UGH! Who do you trust most to develop AI with integrity and genuine focus on humanity’s well-being over profit?

Musk is talking with investors of SpaceX and Tesla to invest in the project. He has acquired a large number of powerful GPU processors from Nvidia and formed a team of AI researchers and engineers. The team includes Igor Babuschkin, a former DeepMind employee. Their aim is to develop large language models that can process huge amounts of data and produce writing or images that resemble human-like output. Another cookie cutter chat-GPT x Midjourney look-alike in the works!

Solana’s New $1,000 Web 3 Cell Phone

The device costs $1,000 and is packaged in a black box that includes the phone, a USB-C charging cable, and a paper card for writing down your recovery phrase. This phrase consists of a sequence of random words that you need to access your crypto wallet.

The phone's operating system is Android 13, and it has 512 GB of storage with a 6.67-inch OLED display. The setup process is typical for Android devices and involves prompts for setting up your account and internet connection.

The phone has a web3-focused feature called Seed Vault that is built into it. With this feature, users can import a seed phrase from another crypto wallet or create a new one (although Solana recommends creating a new one).

The main purpose of this phone is to provide access to decentralized applications (dApps) including:decentralized applications (dApps)

  • Four wallets: Phantom, Solflare, Ledger and Squad
  • Three DeFi apps: Marinade, Jupiter and Mango
  • Three NFT apps: Nokiamon, Minty Fresh and TIEXO
  • Three social apps: Dialect, Audius Music and urFeed
  • And the dApp “workspace”

Even though this phone sounds like it’s for a very niche audience of degens, we will see how it performs in the coming quarters.

NYC’s Robot Dogs are on the loose.

The NYPD has introduced a new member to its team in the form of a robotic dog. The department has unveiled three new pieces of technology including:

  • “StarChase: Provides a means to track vehicles by using a projectile that attaches a GPS enabled device which can then be tracked remotely. This is a pilot program that, among other things, will be used to locate ghost cars, cars with stolen plates used to commit other crimes to mitigate vehicle pursuits and keep the public and officers safe.
  • Digidog (“Spot”)Remote-controlled, highly mobile K-9 robot for use in assessing hazardous situations. "Instead of sending police officers in there, you send Digidog," Adams said, adding that the device will be used to "deescalate" situations. It will be used to assess high-risk situations and will "undoubtedly save lives, both of the police and the public," the NYPD said. This device is not a pilot but rather already going to be part of the technological tools the NYPD has at its disposal. It will be used in hostage negotiations, counterterrorism incidents and other situations as needed.
  • K5 Autonomous Security Robot (ASR): Conducts automated patrol in confined areas both indoors and outdoors, such as transit stations. It uses artificial intelligence to provide incident notification in real-time to first responders. This technology is already in used by other police departments, shopping malls and college campuses, among other areas that need additional patrol. This is a pilot program that the department hopes to start in the summer for next six months either in Times Square or a subway station.”
