Embracing agile ways of working: Moving in a dynamic environment

Welcome back to Privy Presents, a newsletter specifically curated by Privy team to discuss digital identity and other closely related topics, delivered to you every Wednesday.

In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, organizations and individuals alike are recognizing the need for agility to thrive in an ever-changing environment. Agile ways of working have emerged as a transformative approach, enabling teams to adapt, innovate, and deliver value in a dynamic and complex world. This value was even more emphasized during the pandemic because the digital transformation went through a huge shift and people didn’t have the opportunities to meet face-to-face as much as before.

In this edition, Privy brings you a topic of agility in a work environment. Having ‘Fast’ as one of our core values doesn’t stop at the literal meaning of working at a higher speed, but also in the ability to adapt, collaborate, and innovate.

Defining agility

According to Oxford Languages, agility is a term to describe the ability to move quickly and easily, and also to think and understand quickly.

When implemented into a work setting, agility refers to the ability of individuals, teams, and organizations to adapt, respond, and thrive in a rapidly changing and unpredictable environment. It involves embracing a flexible and iterative approach to work, characterized by quick decision-making, continuous learning, collaboration, and the ability to pivot and adjust priorities as needed.

Agility in a work setting could bring many advantages as well as encourage employees to keep on challenging themselves with future tasks and projects.

The benefits of agile ways of working

  • Increased adaptability: When employees adapt well and quickly to their surroundings, this will enable them to respond quickly to changing market dynamics, customer needs, and internal priorities. This will lead to organizations staying ahead of the competition and seizing new opportunities as they arise.
  • Enhanced collaboration: Agility in working sparks initiatives to collaborate and communicate, breaking down invisible barriers and promoting cross-functional teamwork. This collaborative environment encourages knowledge sharing, innovation, and a sense of collective ownership.
  • Continuous improvement: Through knowledge sharing, innovation, and a sense of collective ownership, it’s inevitable that a group of agile employees would strive to improve to be even better. Teams reflect on their performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes incrementally, fostering a culture of learning and growth.

Navigating success in agile ways of working

Those benefits are guaranteed through the maintenance of agility in the middle of a work environment. These are a couple of methods you can implement in your team dynamics.

  • Embrace change: Agility thrives on change, so adopt a mindset that welcomes and embraces it. Be open to feedback, adapt plans when needed, and view change as an opportunity for improvement rather than a disruption.
  • Foster collaboration: Create an environment that encourages collaboration and open communication. Break down barriers between teams, facilitate cross-functional collaboration, and establish effective channels for information sharing.
  • Set priorities: Break projects into smaller iterations and focus on delivering incremental value. Prioritize features based on customer needs and business value, ensuring that each iteration brings tangible benefits.
  • Routine alignment: Through daily, weekly, or monthly check-ins, provide transparency, alignment, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Empower teams: Provide teams with autonomy and the authority to make decisions. Encourage a sense of ownership and accountability, allowing teams to take the lead in driving their work forward.
  • Foster a learning culture: Encourage a culture of learning and experimentation. Celebrate both successes and failures, viewing failures as opportunities for growth and learning.

How Privy implements agility

In a fast-paced and uncertain world, agile ways of working offer a transformative approach to navigating success. Privy has established an agile work environment by prioritizing innovation, collaboration, and striving to learn more.

Recently, Privy was able to partner up with Direktorat Jendral Pajak (DJP) to digitalize tax reports including e-Faktur and e-Bupot.

In April 2023, Privy obtained ISO 27701 certification (Privacy Information Management System), which is an international standard of work outline, data protection guideline, as well as how a company manages their customers’ personal information.

Additionally, on May 17th, 2023, Privy web and mobile application also adds a new feature for its user role. Applied to the Enterprise account, the user role ‘Uploader’ allows its user to upload documents online and is suitable to combine with the Sysadmin role—which holds the authority to assign roles to other users.

These recent improvements and the newly established Privy expansion in Australia are the impacts of Privy’s implementation of agility in our work environment with constant improvement kept in mind.

We hope that by implementing agility in our work routine it will also translate to how we serve you through our products and services.
