Embracing Community with Bridging Inc.
“Through my involvement, I have heard many stories from those who have benefited from Bridging’s services, and that’s the reason I continue to be involved with their organization.”
If the name “Bedrace for Bridging” rings any bells, it’s likely because of Ben Carlson , Manager of Project Management for JobBOSS, JobBOSS², and Alora, who has slid down Buck Hill ski hill in Minnesota on a mattress for the past seven years.
Bridging MN is a non-profit organization that provides furniture and household goods to those transitioning out of homelessness and poverty. Each year, the Original Mattress Factory partners with Bridging to host a race that raises money for their initiative. But this isn’t just any typical race. Competitive teams are assembled with costumes to match; mattresses are mounted by teams of four, racing down the ski slopes for the prize of helping others (and bragging rights).
Ben has used ECI’s One-to-One Community Give Back to sponsor his participation in this race. His team successfully placed 2nd in their fundraising category, raising almost $3,400! Since 1987, Bridging has served more than 110,000 households (more than 300,000 individuals) and reduced landfill space by more than 13 million pounds annually.
“This event has consistently been an absolute blast and a success. For me, it’s awesome to see such a large turnout year after year and to participate in such a fun event where I get to gather with friends, slide down a ski hill on a mattress, and raise a bunch of money for a good cause!” explains Ben.
While Ben may be cold sliding down a ski hill, his contributions to the community certainly warm our hearts. We are so proud to partner with Ben and Bridging to bring awareness to this organization and those they are helping.
