Embracing Fatherhood: Moments of Joy and Connection
As I sit down to pen my thoughts on this Father's Day, I find myself reflecting on my journey of fatherhood. A journey that has been as much about self-discovery as it has been about raising my two beautiful children, Deanna and Dev with my wife, companion and best friend Babita.
My journey as a father began in the bustling city of London in 2013, a place that was home until we decided to move continents and settle in India. This transition was not just a physical move, but also a shift in my role as a father. As I navigated the challenges of settling back in India after 15 years while juggling a new direction in my career and providing for the best opportunities for my kids as they came to grips with a new environment. I realized the importance of being present for my children - emotionally, mentally, and physically more than ever.
Like the previous generation of fathers - in today's world our role is not just about providing for our children, but also about being there for the biggest and smallest moments of their lives. From Deanna's first school recital back in 2019 to Dev's football practice days, I try and made it a point to be there, cheering them on, sharing their joys and their disappointments.
The fathers of our generation are much more sensitive than before. We understand that while it's important to build strong and independent children, it's equally important to raise empathetic ones. This means looking after our own mental well-being, so we can be the best versions of ourselves for our children.

My relationship with my own father was one of a master and apprentice, the old school way. His tough love approach shaped me into the person I am today. But as a father myself, I've realized that while tough love can build resilience, it's the moments of tenderness and understanding that truly shape a child's world.
As I look back, I can't help but reflect on the legacy we leave for our children. What will they cherish as they reflect on their young days? I hope mine will remember all the silly and adventurous things we did together. The joy of experimenting with new dishes in our kitchen, the taste of ice creams at the pier, the thrill of crashing waves at the beach.
In the end, the legacy I want to leave for Deanna and Dev is not just about the values I've taught them, but also about the memories we've created together. Because in the end, it's these moments of love, laughter, and togetherness that truly define our journey as a family.
Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful fathers out there, navigating this beautiful, challenging, and rewarding journey of fatherhood.
Happy Father's Day!
