Embracing JOMO: Finding Joy in the Age of FOMO

Embracing JOMO: Finding Joy in the Age of FOMO

Are you struggling to keep up with endless subscriptions, courses or impulsive purchases? Do you feel overwhelmed by them? You might be experiencing FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).

I recently found myself in a similar situation and reached out to Coach Sampath for help. With his guidance, I learned to overcome the feeling of "wanting to do, but not being able to do" and embraced JOMO (Joy Of Missing Out).

The first step was to list out all the incomplete tasks and things I still wanted to do or buy. While it seemed extensive and overwhelming at first, we prioritized the items based on their importance and impact on my current situation and future plans. It helped me to create a more manageable list.

However, the temptation to add new items to the list didn't stop. To overcome this challenge, I followed the advice of "If you don't see yourself doing it in the next 10 years, it's not worth doing". It may seem a bit stretched, but it worked like magic.

To avoid buying unnecessary items (including books), I reduced my spending budget. This led me to adopt the habit of "wish-listing", which gave me a psychological feeling that I wouldn't miss out on anything.

As a result, I found myself experiencing JOMO. I realized that the world wouldn't end tomorrow, and I learned the importance of focus. By working on the vital few at any given time, I was able to complete activities on time and enjoy them without the guilt of not doing others.

Now, I no longer suffer from FOMO. Instead, I embrace JOMO as a way to prioritize my goals and find joy in missing out on things that don't align with them.

It would be great if you could share your FOMO or JOMO moments.
