The Emotional Intelligence(EI) aspect of Artificial Intelligence(AI) models

Artificial Intelligence

With the rise of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, it is important to take into account the personal and social implications on an individual. Artificial Intelligence is the idea that machines process intelligence similar to humans. AI machines are working on understanding and processing human emotions. It is not long before automated robots match the level of skill and Intelligence of humans.

Emotional Intelligence

On the other hand, Emotional Intelligence is defined as the ability of an individual to realize their own emotions as well as the emotions of others and differentiate between different feelings. They also utilize emotional information to influence their behavior and thoughts, along with adapting emotions in accordance with different environments. Emotional Intelligence is the only distinct feature separating us from machines -  for example, customer service. This cannot be performed by Artificial Intelligence as it requires dealing with all types of customers such as angry, frustrated, unsatisfied, impatient, disappointed and happy.

Importance of Artificial Intelligence

AI has been rising increasingly in the modern world and it has increased the significance of emotional Intelligence in humans. Traditional roles will easily be filled by Artificial Intelligence. Humans might be eventually forced out of such jobs as their skills will no longer be needed. Thus, in order to stay relevant in society, humans need to keep evolving and adapting with its changing needs and requirements. In the near future, robots will have the potential to replace the tasks fulfilled by doctors effectively. Machines will be able to operate on patients as well as gather and analyze all the data needed.

Prevalence of Emotional Intelligence

However, there are many skills that cannot be performed by robots and still require human assistance. Robots may be unable to replace skills such as persuasion, understanding and empathy. These are likely to increase in value and will become the most important skills needed after the introduction of AI. Humans can offer the ability to interact with people and relate to their emotions. In order for machines to compete with humans, they need to develop skills such as empathy and compassion. It is essential for an AI to relate emotionally with humans in the future. Until then, humans should be trained to value the skill of emotional Intelligence and develop it further.

AI is now being developed to produce strategies that simulate human emotions or feelings. Machines will be needed to interpret what humans are feeling and adjust their behavior to provide accurate responses. For AI to fully capture the emotional aspects of humans, they need to be modified in many technological ways to understand the various types of emotions ranging from depression to happiness. AI needs to have one of the most significant ideas of emotional Intelligence, that is, self-awareness. For AI to integrate smoothly with humane aspects, it needs to recognize emotions and then develop an appropriate response. Since emotions are a primary part of human Intelligence, without them, AI is incomplete.
