Australia enables EVs to support grid stability with V2G technology

The Australian government has announced plans to implement Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) standards by December 2024, allowing electric vehicles (EVs) to supply power back to the grid during peak demand periods. This initiative aims to enhance grid stability amid increasing energy consumption and the challenges posed by climate change. Allowing bidirectional charging allows EV owners to use their vehicles as mobile energy storage units, contributing to a more resilient and efficient energy system. This development positions Australia as a leader in integrating renewable energy solutions within the transportation sector. For more details, read the full article.

New OCPP certification program enhancements streamline testing and certification

From February 1, 2025, the OCPP Certification Program will introduce updates to simplify and reduce costs for vendors certifying their products. The new program allows certification of entire product families with a single representative product, and vendors can add other family members by passing automated conformance tests. Updates to the OCPP Compliance Test Tool (OCTT) also include automated testing and a “Vendor Declaration of Conformance” for streamlined compliance. Additionally, re-certification will now be faster and more cost-effective, while support for Charging Station Software Stack certification has been expanded to include OCPP 1.6. Detailed guidelines for these updates will be available in December 2025.
