Empowering Women in STEM: Savannah's Journey at Anton Paar USA

At Anton Paar USA, we celebrate the women who lead, inspire, and redefine what’s possible in science and technology. Today, we share the story of Savannah Watkins , a Field Service Engineer whose passion for hands-on work turned into a career where she makes a significant impact every day.

Finding Her Path

Savannah’s love for building and creating started from a young age. “I grew up always using my hands, taking things apart and putting them back together to build or create objects,” she recalls. It was in college that she realized her curiosity and mechanical skills could become a career. Discovering Anton Paar’s reputation for precision and innovation, Savannah knew she had found her place.

“My path to Anton Paar was not something I envisioned, but it feels like it was meant to be.”

Facing Challenges and Growing Stronger

Working with specialized instruments like rheometers, density meters, and viscometers comes with its share of challenges, especially when dealing with complex issues. Savannah has faced moments of frustration and intimidation, but through patience, persistence, and a strong network of colleagues and technical resources, she has learned to overcome these obstacles.

“Being patient, persistent, and staying calm under pressure has allowed me to continuously learn and tackle more challenges.”

The Impact of Women in STEM

Savannah believes that the presence of women in science and technology adds valuable perspectives that drive progress. “Women are bringing new ideas, fresh approaches, and succeeding at the forefront of challenges,” she says. Her role at Anton Paar USA is not just about technical expertise; it’s about showing other women that they too can thrive in STEM fields.

“The presence of a woman in STEM improves representation and helps other women feel comfortable pursuing their goals.”

Advice for the Next Generation

Savannah’s advice to young women considering a career in science or engineering? “Do not belittle yourself. Trust that you have something to bring to the table. Being young or the youngest among experienced peers does not mean they are better. You are not them, and they are not you.”

Savannah views every task as an opportunity to showcase her expertise despite working in a male-dominated field.

“We need more feminine voices and faces in STEM. Don’t shy away from challenges; they help build your confidence and growth.”

Making a Difference at Anton Paar USA

As a Field Service Engineer, Savannah has direct interactions with clients, ensuring that their instruments operate at peak performance and contribute positively to Anton Paar’s reputation. “I get to represent the company in a way that reinforces our commitment to precision and reliability,” she explains. Each successful interaction is an opportunity to strengthen trust and showcase the value Anton Paar delivers.

“Every interaction is an opportunity to build a relationship that reflects the value of the company.”

Looking Ahead

Savannah acknowledges the progress made but calls for continued support to retain women in STEM roles, highlighting the need for clearer career paths and initiatives that balance work and life responsibilities.

We’re proud to have Savannah and many other inspiring women like her at Anton Paar USA, contributing their talent and paving the way for the future of STEM.
