Energy Workforce Hosts Pan American Energy SME Delegation

Energy Workforce Government Affairs team presented a political and market outlook to the Pan American Energy Small & Medium Enterprises Program during their annual visit to Houston for the Offshore Technology Conference.

Pan American Energy, Argentina’s largest privately-owned integrated energy company, created the SME program in 2005 with the goal of strengthening regional businesses and entrepreneurs from all production sectors. Participants in the program travel to Houston annually for the Offshore Technology Conference to meet with potential buyers and suppliers and grow their understanding of energy technology trends in the U.S. shale market.

Given that U.S. domestic federal and state policy can have significant impacts on the oil and gas industry, the Government Affairs team outlined the association’s current policy priorities and potential impacts of the upcoming election. Tim Tarpley , President of Energy Workforce, reviewed the Biden Administration’s LNG permitting pause and the association’s focus on permitting reform while Maria Suarez-Simmons gave a background on the SEC Climate Disclosure Rule and the Inflation Reduction Act. These policies were core themes of the most recent Energy Workforce DC Fly-In where leadership spent a week on Capitol Hill outlining the impact on their businesses and the sector writ large.

On their part, the PAE SME delegation was very interested in the upcoming U.S. presidential elections and how each candidate might impact the U.S.-Argentina relationship. From their perspective, Argentine companies are poised and ready for increased international investment in the country especially now that the economic situation is seemingly more stable.

Tarpley wrapped the presentation with a review of the current polling for the presidential election and an analysis of the implications of the election on energy policy. 

Last year, Energy Workforce also hosted the PAE SME delegation and President Molly Determan presented on energy workforce trends and how the association advances those within the industry through training programs and best practice sharing at the committee level. The Latin America Chapter of Energy Workforce also recently hosted a coffee presentation with a speaker from VISTA ENERGY on their commercial outlook and is planning events for the fall.
