ENHANCED BY ENGINEERING - Egis women who stand out!
On the occasion of International Women in Engineering Day, we are proud to present eight portraits of women engineers working at Egis. They have distinguished themselves by winning an award, being part of a professional organisation, investing in students by teaching at universities... They are all full of talent and contribute every day to enhancing our engineering profession.
Daniela Masini, Nuclear Project Director, France
Awarded Fem'Energia 2021 by Women in Nuclear
"I am very proud of this award. Participating in this competition and representing Egis was very important to me! But winning 3rd place was another step forward in my career with the recognition of my efforts as a woman in a male-dominated field. I hope that this will serve as an example to all women working in nuclear civil engineering, and in all technical fields in general, not to give up and to redouble their efforts. You can be engineers, you can be experts, you can be managers, you can be directors, you can be mothers, you can be women, just be yourself.”
Asmaa Abouleish, BIM Manager, Saudi Arabia
Winner of the 2023 Construction Week Middle East - Rising Star of the Year Award
“Winning the Rising Star of the Year 2023 award at the prestigious Middle East Construction Week Awards was an incredibly proud moment for me. I felt that my efforts and dedication to the industry had paid off, and receiving such prestigious recognition made me even more proud of my achievements. My passion for leveraging advanced technology in digital construction to create smarter and more sustainable solutions has been a driving force in my career. The support and encouragement from the talented team at Egis have been instrumental in providing me the space to innovate, which significantly contributed to winning this prestigious award."
Emilia Roguska, Geotechnical specialist, Poland
Lecturer and researcher at Warsaw University of Technology
"I have been working for Egis in Poland for five years as a geotechnical specialist. I also teach underground structures at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology, a prestigious technical university in the Polish capital. I am currently working on a doctoral thesis on the bearing capacity of ground anchors in complex geotechnical conditions.
In my daily work, I find the most interesting topics to be modeling the interaction of geotechnical structures, especially tunnels, with soil and rock, and then verifying the assumptions based on measured data. The most rewarding part of my job is finding the best solutions for given ground conditions.
Recently, I represented Egis in Poland at the 4th International Tunnel Forum as a speaker, presenting on the "Design of Segmental Construction of Tunnels Made by Mechanical Tunnelling."
Women's passion and open-mindedness can greatly contribute to the STEM industry, yet there are many invisible barriers that we must overcome. That is why I collaborate with F2F – Female 2 Female Foundation – to inspire young women to try to reach for what may seem unattainable for them.”
Laura Donaldson, Vice President at Egis in Canada
Led the ACEC-Ontario award winning Bayfield Bridge team in Canada
”On behalf of the project team, I was deeply honored to accept ACEC-Ontario's top recognition for the Bayfield River Bridge. Every engineer dreams of working on a project that is challenging, innovative, and transformative, and this project epitomized those qualities. As Project Director, my responsibilities included ensuring timely delivery, engaging with community groups and stakeholders to foster positive interactions, and negotiating changes in scope.
Engineers play a pivotal role in transforming community spaces and enhancing the quality of life. It's crucial for our profession to be inclusive and to inspire the next generation of girls to be courageous, creative, and to challenge the boundaries of what is possible. A diverse engineering team brings a wide range of perspectives and experiences, which can lead to more innovative and effective solutions for complex problems.”

As a part of the team assigned to Infrastructure Preparation and Innovation Facility Consultancy Project (IPIF) projects, despite the long working hours, I am committed to ensuring that my job, together with my team, is executed with precision within the pre-determined timeline. All these are not just to build a strong infrastructure but most importantly to save lives. Remember, not all heroes wear capes or have superpowers. Some wear hard hats with unparalleled knowledge in Math.”

5moYou have the audacity to boast and take pride, yet you conveniently ignore the shame and disgrace that comes with supporting the criminals and occupiers who have illegally built settlements on the free land of Palestine. You should be ashamed of yourselves for enabling such blatant violations of human rights and international law. Your so-called "achievements" mean nothing when they are built upon the suffering and oppression of an entire people fighting for their rightful homeland. I am disgusted by your arrogance and lack of moral conscience. Until you acknowledge the injustice being perpetrated and take genuine steps to make amends, you have no grounds to claim any sense of honor or pride. Your actions are a stain on humanity, and I urge you to reflect deeply on the consequences of your misguided support for this illegal occupation.
