Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in focus at Practitioner Performance Advice

NHS Resolution is committed to supporting the vital work underway to reduce health inequalities across the healthcare system. Our new Strategy 2022-25 has identified equality, diversity and inclusion as integral to the delivery of our services, both in our work across the healthcare system, and as an employer. If you are interested in equality, diversity and inclusion, this is an ideal time for you to join our Practitioner Performance Advice (Advice) service as we seek to recruit new Advisers.

As the service seeks to broaden the skill set and experience of the existing team, we are encouraging applications from underrepresented groups, including black and minority ethnic applicants. Applications are also welcome from suitably qualified individuals wishing to work flexible hours. Fixed term contracts and secondment arrangements will be considered.

Now is an exciting time to join Advice as we embark on a number of ambitious programmes designed to support and promote a just and fair culture across the NHS, by providing an independent and expert advisory and support service for practitioners and healthcare organisations. If you have experience in managing performance concerns and a passion for resolving concerns in a fair and just way then please see our advert on NHS jobs , which closes on 6 March 2022.

The role of the Adviser is an exciting and demanding post. Advisers are not only technical experts who advise on performance concerns, they are also relationship managers who will be mediators, team reviewers, and facilitators of educational programmes (all with training). To be successful in this role the post holder should have a proven ability to handle a wide ranging and demanding portfolio of work as well as a passion for supporting the management of performance concerns, combined with an understanding of the relevant regulatory and policy frameworks that inform this work.

Advisers need to possess agile analytical skills to assess concerns before providing guidance on appropriate handling which takes account of multiple sources of information. As a result, the post holder should possess excellent critical thinking and analysis skills, along with a proven ability to communicate effectively and credibly with senior stakeholders, often in emotionally difficult circumstances.

Advisers play a key role in establishing and maintaining relationships with regional partners and key stakeholders. This enables the service to horizon scan and anticipate and respond to changes in the external healthcare environment. The post holder should therefore possess excellent skills in relationship management and have a proven ability to establish rapport, build credibility and influence senior stakeholders.

The post holder needs to be skilled at engaging and holding the attention of large audiences as a key part of the role is delivering education and training events. They will need to be competent at imparting technical information with clarity so that recipients can take the learning and apply it in their workplaces.

If you have any questions about the role, please contact Karen Wadman (Lead Adviser) on karen.wadman@nhs.net for an informal discussion.
