Eurobarometer: European sports practice map 2022

New Eurobarometer presents actual data from European sports practices. The material released by the Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sport, and Culture is connected to European Commission.

The survey was conducted by Kantar. The 2022 data identified COVID-19 impacts.

Women and lower schooling/income population have low practice rates.

The mature citizens must be in attention, because they have the sedentary high rates and huge public health service use.

Practice by country

European average sedentary lifestyle is 45%. Sweden with just 3%, Finland and The Netherlands with 4% are positive highlights.

On the other hand, Portugal with 72% of its inactive population, draws attention.

Vigorous sport activities

Among those who practice sports, only 23% do vigorous activities more than 4 times a week. 33% do no high intensity activity and 44% up to 3 days a week.

Local- Where are they practice by country?

EU average: 47% practices in parks and outdoor. 37% at home and 33% in a sport club or fitness center.(multiple answers)

Studies like this have fundamental importance so that Governments in national and reginal terms of each country can act assertively, in reducing sedentary lifestyle.
