EUWMA midterm meeting in Milan

Last 22th and 23th July, on behalf of the Italian Presidency EUWMA - European Union of Water Management Associations, Lombardy regional ANBI hosted midterm technical meeting and field visit illustrate theme 2024 "Water in a highly anthropized environment: more regulation or return nature?".

During the field visit at Diga Panperduto - Consorzio Est Ticino Villoresi, ANBI Lombardia presented its advanced data center CeDATer - Centro Dati Acqua e Territorio Rurale (Water and Rural Area Data Center).

Lombardy is "a region of water" thank to its large lakes, many rivers,the dense and intertwined network of canals, and also to thethousand fountains and springs. The abundance of water resourceshas allowed over the centuries to build a harmonious landscapefocused on agricultural production, supported by complex andinnovative irrigation systems among the most advanced in Italy.Water characterize the economic and social fabric of Lombardy andits many functions, as reclamation and safeguard of the territory,creation of environments and landscapes, energy production,tourism, navigation, etc..

Currently in Lombardy there are 12 Agricultural water Boards in charge to supply water for irrigationand manage water networks and reclamation systems.
