An Evening With Alison Smith

An Evening With Alison Smith

I’d love for you to join me for my first virtual ‘an evening with Alison Smith’ on the subject of:‘How to talk to a brick wall’. It’s on Zoom on 13th November @ 1800-1930 UK time. And you can sign up to attend here – it’s £22.80.And I’m very, very excited.During the session, rather than try to solve your brick wall* dilemma using logical thinking, I’ll be sharing and giving you a chance to try more unconventional creative problem-solving tools.

*where a brick wall might be a specific individual you’re struggling with, a team or organisation who are ignoring you, or even potential clients you’d like to engage with but just don’t seem to know how.

This poem I wrote recently helps explain why these creative problem-solving tools are so effective at helping you see situations you’re grappling with from a different perspective.

How to solve a problem

Has logic put you in the corner again?

Not even facing outwards, but facing towards the corner

Your view of the problem restricted by that small view before you

A view of ceiling and of floor, wall to the left and another to the right

A constrained view

And yet a view you believe in

A view you've put much time and energy into its construction

A view you, therefore, believe contains everything you need to know,

and everything there is to know

And yet the problem exists

Turn around

Turn your back to that corner

See that which you've missed

Other options

Other possibilities

Alternate perspectives undoubtedly

See too that which you've deleted, distorted, or generalised

Allow the deleted parts to make themselves known

Allow the distortion to metamorphosize before your very eyes

And allow your assumptions and generalisations to be questioned

That's when the answers you crave

And the solutions you so desperately need

Will tap you on your shoulder

Reminding you the answer was there all along

You were just looking in the wrong direction

So, if you’d like to undelete, undistort, and question assumptions you’re making about that brick wall in your life then why not join me as we look in the right direction for the solutions.

I’ve restricted places to 20 to ensure everyone gets an opportunity to ask questions and obtain that different perspective they’re missing currently – so do book now to avoid disappointment.

P.S. With Christmas fast approaching don’t forget about my two books which both make perfect gifts:
