If you are a researcher, a project manager, or interested in science – there is plenty to look forward to in 2024! 

We’ve compiled a list of events we think you might be interested below. We'll be updating this list - and the events section on our website - throughout the year with the latest events and news. Of particular interest may be those events that will help you manage your EU-funded research and innovation project.

COP29

11 - 22 November, Baku, Azerbaijan, with online events

COP29 is a chance for the world to confront the climate crisis. At this year's event, several EU-funded projects will feature in events - which you can follow online. One of these is on 19 November, dedicated to sustainable land use. Tune in to this event, and read our series of projects working to protect the world's most vulnerable regions facing acute issues due to the climate crisis.

MSCA Staff Exchanges: Info Day

15 November, online

Want to partake in international mobility scheme for researchers? Then you may wish to apply to the MSCA Staff Exchanges. A dedicated Info Day will be held this week to provide an overview of the call, how to prepare your proposal, and to answer your questions!

Knowledge Valorisation Talks

19 November, online

Societal value creation is at the heart of research. However, measuring and communicating results is not always straightforward. The European Commission is organising a whole series of online EU Knowledge Valorisation Talks throughout 2024 to showcase inspiring practices that are transforming knowledge into practical solutions and exchange experience among valorisation actors from all over Europe. The next talks is on 19 November.

Launch event: Horizon Results Booster becomes the Booster

22 November, online

After four years of the Horizon Results Booster, the European Commission has decided to continue this service. It will be renamed - as the Booster - and will provide personalised support. The fresh Booster will be launched at this kick-off event - register to see how it can support your work!

Conference on Research Careers

26 November, online

Researchers have a pivotal role in ensuring a prosperous and competitive European Union. Without researchers' employability, the attractiveness of research careers in Europe could be seriously undermined. Join the Conference on Research Careers 2024 to discover how we are working towards guaranteeing more sustainable working conditions for scientists!

Lump Sum funding in Horizon Europe

Watch the recording of the event: Lump Sum funding: how does it work? How to write a proposal? Lump Sum funding was launched as a means to simplify EU grants. With a recent report confirming its value - in how it lightens the burden for beneficiaries - Lump Sum funding may become more common.

Horizon Europe Implementation Days: Grant Agreement Preparation

Are you preparing your grant agreement? Watch the recordings of two events dedicated to grant agreement preparation in Horizon Europe. One event was held on 16 October with the second event held on 5 November. Watch the recordings of both for an overview of the process, and the various services involved!

European Research and Innovation Days

The R&I Days is the European Commission's flagship research event. We published an article to mark 40 years of the EU's framework programmes for research and innovation for the event. Plus, you can now watch our interviews with the CLAIM project and the ASSISTANCE project from the event as well as have a look at our recap post with some highlights. The R&I Days were part of the Research and Innovation Week - where Professor Rana Sanyal won the Women Innovators Prize. We interviewed her earlier this year where she discussed how the MSCA programme shaped her career.

Science is Wonderful!

Science is truly wonderful. This event is ideal for pupils, as they can learn about science through experimentation, games, and other hands-on activities. Stay posted on updates for next year's edition.

The Festival of the New European Bauhaus

The second edition of the New European Bauhaus Festival, brought innovators, creators, scientists, citizens, and collectives together under the headline “Planet for All”.

EU Open Day

12,000 visitors visited the Commission's headquarters to mark Europe Day. We organised a stand in the Democracy Village, where the EITHOS project, managed by us, showcased their work into into deep-fakes and how its research can help strength democracy. See how we turned into Mr Bean and Meghan Markle on the day. Marc Tachelet also met researchers and visited other stands at the event. Get ready for next year's edition!
