This 16-day Everest Base Camp Trek programme is designed to reduce the risk of AMS by limiting increasement of daily altitude. The other two rest days are included as the altitude rises. The first is at Namche Bazaar to explore the lifestyle and culture of Sherpa People.
We will walk to the hillock village of Tengboche which has a unique Buddhist Monastery. On the second day, we will walk through Pangboche to Dingboche. We will walk to Nangkartshang Gompa for outstanding views of the Nuptse glacier, Ama Dablam’s north face glacier and to the east, Makalu. We will stay a night at Lobuche and trek to the highest village at Gorak Shep for lunch. From teahouse up Kala Patthar offers superb views of Everest, the South Pol, Nuptse and the lower glacier.
The other four days are easier which are downwards and overnights in different villages.
Best Season for Everest Base Camp Trek
The best times of the year for the Everest Base Camp Trek are spring season (March to May) and autumn (last week in September to mid-December). During these times, the weather remains stable and the views of mountain are good. In monsoon, the weather can be unpredictable and the rain can make the trails slippery and muddy. In winter, heavy snowfall and too cold temperature can sometimes make the trek hurdle.
