EXCITMENT | How to make your presentation memorable 🚀

I'm fortunate to have the chance to present every week in front of a bigger audience either in person or online. I love enter the stage and to present in front of others to make them think and to land important messages.

One key to success for me presenting is to have a passion and excitement for the topic you want others to get more interested in. It's not just about the excitement of the speaker, it's also about driving excitement in the audience.

Let me dive more into this topic and get you insights based on my experience on how to captivate your audience with different perspectives and thought-provoking questions.

WHY LANDING EXCITMENT REALLY MATTERS

When you present in front of an audience, whether it's a conference, a webinar, or a pitch, you want to make an impact. You want to leave a lasting impression on your listeners, and make them remember you and your message. 🙌

But how do you do that? How do you stand out from the crowd of speakers who are competing for attention and influence?

One way is to land excitement in your presentations. Landing excitement means creating a sense of wonder, curiosity, and enthusiasm in your audience. It means making them feel something, not just think something. 😍

Landing excitement can help you achieve several goals as a presenter:

1️⃣ It can grab and hold your audience's attention, even in a noisy or distracting environment.

2️⃣ It can make your audience more receptive and open to your ideas, arguments, and suggestions.

3️⃣ It can increase your credibility and authority as a speaker, by showing that you are passionate and knowledgeable about your topic.

4️⃣ It can inspire your audience to take action, whether it's to learn more, to buy your product, or to join your cause. 💯

HOW TO LAND EXCITMENT

One of the best examples of landing excitement in presentations is "the one and only" Sir David Attenborough, the legendary naturalist and broadcaster. He has been captivating millions of viewers for decades with his documentaries about the natural world. 🌎

What can we learn from him? How does he land excitement in his presentations?

Here are some of his techniques that you can apply to your own presentations:

🕵️DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES

Show different perspectives of your topic. Sir David Attenborough uses different angles, zooms, and views to show the beauty and diversity of nature. He also uses different narratives, such as the life cycle of an animal, the evolution of a species, or the impact of human activity. By showing different perspectives, he makes his topic more interesting, complex, and relevant to his audience.

🧠MAKE THE AUDIENCE THINK

Make your audience think. Sir David Attenborough often asks questions that challenge his audience's assumptions, beliefs, or knowledge. He also uses analogies, metaphors, and comparisons to make his audience think in new ways. For example, he compares the size of a blue whale to a jet plane, or the speed of a cheetah to a car. By making his audience think, he stimulates their curiosity and imagination.

😂THE POWER OF EMOTION AND HUMOR

Use emotion and humor. Sir David Attenborough is not afraid to show his emotions, whether it's awe, joy, sadness, or anger. He also uses humor, irony, and sarcasm to lighten the mood and engage his audience. He makes his audience feel what he feels, and makes them laugh with him. By using emotion and humor, he creates a connection and rapport with his audience.

You don't have to be a naturalist or a broadcaster to land excitement in your presentations. You can use these techniques to any topic, audience, or format. Here are some tips on how to apply them to your presentations:

📚RESEARCH

Research your topic thoroughly, and find out what makes it unique, surprising, or important. Look for different perspectives, stories, or facts that can make your topic more appealing and relevant to your audience.

🗺️PLAN AND STRUCTURE

Plan your presentation structure, and decide how to introduce, develop, and conclude your topic. Use a clear and logical flow, and make sure to include transitions, summaries, and signposts.

🎨PREPARE QUESTIONS, ANALOGIES, METAPHORS, HUMAR, EMOTION...

Craft your presentation content, and use different techniques to land excitement. Use questions, analogies, metaphors, comparisons, emotion, humor, and other rhetorical devices to make your content more engaging and memorable.

🎤PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE...

Practice your presentation delivery, and use your voice, body language, and visuals to enhance your message. Use variations in tone, pitch, volume, and pace to convey your excitement and passion. Use gestures, eye contact, and facial expressions to communicate your emotions and connect with your audience. Use images, videos, graphs, or charts to illustrate your points and show different perspectives.

CONCLUSION

Landing excitement in your presentations can make a huge difference in your impact and influence as a speaker. You can learn from the master of storytelling, Sir David Attenborough, how to captivate your audience with different perspectives and thought-provoking questions. You can also use emotion and humor to create a connection and rapport with your audience. By applying these techniques to your presentations, you can make your audience feel something, not just think something. And that's how you make yourself and your message memorable. 🚀
