An Experience within CEVA Logistics
A Summer of Growth and Learning at CEVA Logistics
This summer at the DFW Hub of CEVA Logistics has been an incredible journey. Each day brings new lessons, and I can confidently say that this program has not only developed my professional skills but also contributed significantly to my personal growth. The experiences and conversations I've had with industry leaders have been invaluable and life changing.
When people ask what I've learned, it's hard to put into words. The sheer volume of insights and knowledge I've gained is remarkable. From mastering the soft skills of Excel to learning about CEVA's products, I've discovered how to leverage my personality and lifelong skills to excel in this field. Coming into the summer I was relying a lot on my past experiences within the last year in the organization; However, one thing I noticed was how much my junior year at the University of Arkansas helped me, For example, I use the information system called “Salesforce” on a daily basis in the office and during my first semester this year I had multiple assignments learning this platform in my ISYS course. Another great example was having a decent grasp on the products that are offered in the logistics industry (Air, Ocean, & Ground) due to the course I took with Stephanie Thomas . It was truly awesome to see school and the workplace come full circle!
The greatest feeling of this summer has to be the ability of resources. The CEVA organization has employees from all walks of life and backgrounds, as broad as that sounds it is the truth. As an intern I have the ability to ask any and all questions. As I posted in a previous LinkedIn update, I was having a very difficult time asking questions or even being active in meetings, as I felt like I was interrupting a good conversation or even felt bad for not knowing what I felt like was a simple question. That is the beauty of the organization I am part of, leaders within the organization allowed me to be vulnerable with them, and not only be vulnerable but they encouraged it.
Highlights of My Internship Experience:
1. The First Week: A Memorable Start: My first week at CEVA was filled with anticipation and excitement, akin to the first day of high school or moving into college. I was warmly welcomed by four CEVA team members Beau Myhre , Sabine Walter , Ryan Bolme , and Carly Wilson who have made this journey more enriching than I could have imagined. Our initial conversations emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence, active listening, and the true meaning of honesty and integrity.

2. Pouring back in: While internships are typically about absorbing as much information as possible, I’ve found immense satisfaction in contributing to CEVA. From facilitating external leads and creating useful Excel reports to researching potential customers, I've enjoyed adding value to the team. As the weeks progressed, I have been able to find the little details and points where I can continue to help out as best as an intern can. I felt for me personally that I was taking in everyone’s time and I wanted to try my best try reciprocating.
3. Teamwork: Something a bit different from my first year within CEVA, I have had the pleasure of working with another intern. This experience has highlighted the importance of teamwork in the business world. We’ve not only become coworkers but also friends, which has been crucial for my personal development. Our collaboration has taught me about accountability and the benefits of bouncing ideas off each other.

4. Exciting Upcoming Opportunities looking ahead, I’m thrilled about the opportunities to shadow our Business Development professionals during customer lunches, listen to cold calls, and get more one-on-one time with CEVA employees. These experiences will expand my personal and professional toolbox. As I touched on before, Having the ability to reach out to these profession and leaders are making the big difference in making me feel like I am getting the absolute most of my time here with CEVA.
In conclusion, my time at CEVA has been anything but dull. From numerous meetings to observing supply chain specialists in action and grinding out tasks in Excel, every moment has been a learning experience. I am looking forward to measuring my growth at the end of the summer. #Waltonsupplychain #SupplyChainU J.B. Hunt Transport Department of Supply Chain Management at the University of Arkansas
