Experienced Large Animal Vet Looking for Leadership Opportunities Wanted

Experienced Large Animal Vet - Southland, New Zealand

Are you an experienced large animal vet with strong technical skills and untapped leadership potential looking for your next move...?

Or maybe your Bestie has made noises about making a move...?

This well-respected and tight knit independently owned mixed animal Southland clinic is looking for a very special person to join their team.

As well as being technically and clinically competent, the person filling this vacancy also needs to be compassionate and respectful because those are two of the values this clinic’s reputation has been built on.

For the right person, the opportunity to join the board could also be available.

The existing leadership team is open to new ideas and fresh eyes to ensure this long-standing independent clinic continues to grow from strength to strength.

You’ll live in a large South Island small city, where the cost of living is still affordable, the opportunity to be part of the community is real and making a difference still happens.

Because of the longevity of this clinic, the vets feel privileged to be part of the progression and succession of their clients’ farms being passed from one generation to the next.

About the Clinic

  • Very well digitally spec’d (X-Ray and dentals)
  • Surgical suite
  • Experienced team of competent, lovely and technically capable support staff
  • Family-friendly weekday and weekend rosters
  • Interesting caseload as very few cases are referred
  • Most farming clients are owner-operated (very few corporates) which means you can expect to be offered a cuppa and chew the fat with the owners.  Likewise, it’s not unusual for farmers to join this clinic’s team for an after-work beer if they’re in town.
  • Existing management team believes strongly in mentorship and developing everyone according to their individual strengths
  • Strong team bonds – at work and at home - everyone works and plays well together, respecting privacy but making sure a good laugh can be had over a beer or a wine after a hard day or at a staff BBQ.

This position is being handled exclusively by VetStaff on behalf of the clinic.

In the first instance please call me for a confidential chat to see whether this role might be what you’re looking for to progress your veterinary career.  Likewise, if you know a colleague who's making noises about looking for their next position please point them my way (because I know how to say thank you for introductions that result in a new job!).
