Exploring the Field of Physiotherapy Research and Biomedical Sciences.
Physiotherapy is a profession focused on enhancing the health-related quality of life by influencing the physical, psychological, emotional, and social well-being of individuals within the areas of promotion, prevention, treatment, habilitation, and rehabilitation. In order for physiotherapy to be effective, it is important to have a comprehensive understanding of the concepts taught, the learning process of students, and the sociocultural context in which physiotherapy is practiced.
Numerous studies in the past decade have documented that physiotherapists hold generally favorable attitudes to evidence-based practice and recognize the importance of using research to guide their clinical practice. Research has predominantly investigated barriers to research use. Less is known about the intellectual and financial circumstances that support the use of research by physiotherapists in low and middle-income countries. However, evidence-based practice has allowed physiotherapy to evolve into a more independent and academic profession in many countries. Evidence-based practice has revolutionized the field of physiotherapy, enabling practitioners to provide the most appropriate therapies based on clinical reasoning that integrates the best scientific knowledge available. Patients and the general public will greatly benefit from physiotherapy research, as it will ensure that they receive the most appropriate treatments tailored to their specific needs.
To stimulate and finance physiotherapy research in low and middle-income countries, several strategies can be implemented.
Firstly, it is crucial to raise awareness about the importance of research in physiotherapy and its potential benefits for patient care. This can be done through educational campaigns, workshops, and conferences that emphasize the value of research in improving patient outcomes.
Secondly, funding opportunities should be made available specifically for physiotherapy research in low and middle-income countries. This can be achieved through collaborations with international organizations, governments, and philanthropic foundations that prioritize healthcare research funding.

Thirdly, capacity-building initiatives should be implemented to enhance the research skills and knowledge of physiotherapists in these countries. This can be accomplished through providing training programs, mentorship opportunities, and access to relevant research resources and databases.
Furthermore, it is essential to address the barriers that hinder the utilization of research-based treatment techniques among physiotherapists in low and middle-income countries such as workforce attitude, lack of time, and a lack of appropriate training and skills. By addressing these barriers and providing academic support for research, physiotherapy can become more evidence-based and further enhance the quality of patient care in these countries.
