Exploring New Horizons...

Monday was my last day at Accenture. Given the current COVID situation this felt almost like any other day in the last 12 month working from home. But of course it wasn't like any other day: It was the end of a 22 year long journey with a great company and lots of marvellous people.

When I started in 1999 the company - called Andersen Consulting at the time - was approx 50k people globally and a big melting pot for ambitious and bright people from all kinds of backgrounds that all shared one goal: improve businesses with technology. Today it is a 500k people behemoth but in no way less ambitious and bright. And I feel lucky and incredibly honoured to have been part of this crazy ride that gave me the opportunity to first grow our CRM business in the 2000s and then our Accenture Digital business in the 2010s, always being right at the vortex where business and technology innovation meet to forge the future. 

But most of all I met so many great people during these 22 years that graciously shared their knowledge and wisdom with me and helped me to continuously grow and learn. And many of them became friends. The list is too long to post here, but I know you know who I mean :-). Many thanks for being part of my journey.

But all good things must come to an end. And as the great German poet Hermann Hesse famously said:  “Und jedem Anfang wohnt ein Zauber inne, Der uns beschützt und der uns hilft, zu leben. (in the core of every beginning lives magic, magic that protects us and helps us live)” I am trying to capture that magic and am currently busy exploring the new horizons that opened up for me.
