A Book You Should Read - Crossing the Chasm by Geoffrey A. Moore is the bible for bringing cutting-edge products to larger markets. This book examines the market dynamics faced by innovative new products, particularly the daunting chasm that lies between early to mainstream markets. The book provides tangible advice on how to make this difficult transition and offers real-world examples of companies that have struggled in the chasm. In Crossing the Chasm, Geoffrey A. Moore shows that in the Technology Adoption Life Cycle—which begins with innovators and moves to early adopters, early majority, late majority, and laggards—there is a vast chasm between the early adopters and the early majority. While early adopters are willing to sacrifice for the advantage of being first, the early majority waits until they know that the technology actually offers improvements in productivity. The challenge for innovators and marketers is to narrow this chasm and ultimately accelerate adoption across every segment. Check it out.

A Person You Should Follow on LinkedIn - Trish Dossett. I met Trish back about 5 years ago when I was working under the new ownership at Alpha Industries and she cold called me. We didn’t need her services at the time, but we chatted and I shared some contacts with her that I knew could use her products. Fast forward to today and she is still with Port Plastics and she is posting tons of content about different plastics, their applications in industry, and how she can assist with your company’s needs. Give her and follow and check out this post where her team at Port Plastics Texas is raffling off four tickets to a Texas Rangers baseball game in August.

A Podcast You Should Listen To - Inside a Sinking Submarine on the Outside Podcast. Among the world’s harrowing marine survival stories, the strangest might be a crew’s escape from one of the earliest submarines. It was 1851, and the 26-foot-long sub, designed and captained by a Prussian carpenter, was powered by a couple sailors spinning treadwheels. When the vessel floundered during a trial run and began sinking to the bottom of a German harbor, there was only one very frightening way to get out alive—which is why the crew got into what was almost certainly the first-ever underwater fistfight. Check it out.

A Verse From the Bible -  Finally, let’s get to the best part of this newsletter and the Lord’s word.

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Christians facing difficult situations today can take comfort in this verse knowing that it is not a promise to immediately rescue us from hardship or suffering, but rather a promise that God has a plan for our lives and regardless of our current situation, He can work through it to prosper us and give us a hope and a future. Furthermore, Christians can take comfort in knowing that God promises to be there for us in these situations. For in the verses immediately following Jeremiah 29:11, God proclaims through Jeremiah that when you “call on me and come and pray to me… I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 19:12-13).

All in all, I hope by looking into one or all of these five areas of your life, you can extend your reach and accelerate your personal and professional growth. I hope this newsletter has been helpful and I look forward to sharing more with you next week!
