Facebook boldly announced that it intended to immediately start forcing users who attempt to block their ads to see ads. In a move that stunned absolutely nobody, ad block software developers almost immediately released an update to the filter list to re-block Facebook's ads. Facebook makes nearly all its money from advertising, so I doubt they're going to go down so easily.

The solution to the ad blocking arms race might be for advertisers to accept that people don't want to see ads. Advertisers will need to come up with an even more clever (and subtle) way to manipulate us into spending money. Don't worry, they'll totally figure it out ;-)
