The Feast Of Unleavened Bread
"Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:" - 1 Corinthians 5:7
The Feast of Unleavened Bread follows Passover which is a memorial bringing us in remembrance of God's plan for us. Unleavened bread is a substance typically yeast that is added to dough to ferment and make it rise. It came forth out of the land of Egypt where Israel and a mixed multitude left in hast before the leaven in their bread could rise. "Thou shalt eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread therewith, even the bread of affliction; for thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt in haste:" - Deuteronomy 16:3
Passover cleansed you of sin. Leavened Bread represents sin. Eating Unleavened bread for seven days serves as a reminder to keep yourself free of sin. We use this time to clean up our lives by literally removing leaven bread from our house a representation of "sin". All have sinned intentionally or not. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God;" - Romans 3:23
Remember that sinful act you swept under the rug hoping to bury it in your subconscious. God knows all and sees all. The flesh is weak; it wants what it wants, when it wants. Sin is wickedness, a guilty pleasure even profitable at the cost of using others. Why else would you do it if there was nothing in it for you? What is sin, the transgression of the law? What is the law? God's Commandments. "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." - 1 John 3:4
The Feast of Unleavened Bread is in remembrance of all the sins we committed throughout the year. For seven days ye shall eat unleavened bread exercising your obedience unto God. If you think you have never sinned read God's commandments as a reminder? This is the time to begin again with a clean slate. Start a new life with Jesus Christ putting him first.
