Financial Revenge and Regrets

Financial Revenge and Regrets

One day we won't be that young anymore. So we can't spend our days praying in vain for some savior to rise from these streets. We're pulling out of here to win. TINA

How can we win? First, I think it's important to determine what exactly winning looks like? What's the rubric for a successful, good life? Is it longevity and health? Accumulating money? Relationships? Experiences?

And that answer is going to be different for each individual and each family. But going through life with financial revenge and regrets on your mind is a sure way to stack the odds against you...and stuff is tough enough already.

Make forceful executable decisions now so you can make any decision you damn well like to make later.

Everything has its tradeoffs and opportunity costs. Tough sacrifices, in some shape or size. And at the same time, life is uncertainty and risk. What's the point of a pool of gold if it's never enjoyed?

The dive and the swim look painful, actually.

What's the point in being rich if you can't think what to do with it?

We're making a move, we're making it now | We're coming out of the sidelines

"The future that you got mapped out is nothing much to shout about"

Use the one thing you've got more of...

And most wealthy people are average Joe's and Jane's that simply made the decision to live within their means, focus on what matters, and stay in that lane of good "Millionaire Next Door" stuff, from Anthony Carlton .

So don't just sit back and think about it...we can't recapture the glory. Time slips away and it goes very fast.

How can we put practical steps in place to make the time better, over and above the financial decisons? Watch this from Hala Taha with longevity expert Steven Kotler on peak performance and what is really possible, how to view challenges:

And as he says, the key is starting young. Everything compounds if there is enough time.

It's really amazing how far we have come as a society - but shocking how recently it was that women could not have their own bank accounts. If we want financial inclusion, we all need to understand where we came from where we are, and where we are going. I was really glad to see Adriene Bueno talk about this very recent history; and what we can do to make progress, especially on World Book Day. Have any recommendations?

Matthias Richter (李希力) wrote a great piece on generational wealth and what sets the very few apart from everyone else:

Revenge spending is real and can be spectacularly dangerous and reckless...or kinda fun and life-changing

So much of how things have been set up around us are designed to trip you up so we are always in consume-now FOMO mode. We can often be our own worst enemy. And technology makes financial regret more and more likely, we need to be vigilant and aware: add a bit of friction to some transactions or we're just dancing in the dark:
