Find Your People

There are people in our lives that we gravitate to. For each person, our circle is different.

There is someone that we call with our good news. We can usually hear their smile behind the phone. And we call them when we have our shit days because they know just what to say. When I was young, my person was my grandfather. His birthday is today.

He may not be here anymore, but every time I meet someone like him, I feel comfortable and at ease.

There are so many people on this platform that claim to care about their connections.

Our actions speak louder than words. My grandpa was honest with his words, and he owned his actions. He was introspective with who he was as a person, and realized that no one was perfect.

When I was a bad assed teenager, he would tell me that he still loved me. When my grandmother died, his mission was to make sure that I turned out like her. She made heads turn when she walked in a room. She had more friends and family love her than anyone that I know. She was the life of the party. Her cooking and baking was for 50 people at a time, and she thought about what each one wanted to eat. She fought through breaking half the bones in her body after a major car accident. She knew that the show must go on. And, she was a key player in it. Now, it's my turn.

For a lot of people in this world, I am their person. Sometimes, it's as a friend. Sometimes, it's as an aunt. And, a lot of the time it's as a career coach or recruiter.

Just like my grandfather, I never judge. I listen. I only offer help when I am asked. But, my support is always there.

I am living his legacy in so many ways. I feel like one of the luckiest women alive.

I may not be pulling in 6 figures, or own a mansion on the beach, or the Ferrari F450 I dreamed about as a kid, but I am making a difference in this world. And, the right people notice.

When we live our life with intention, everything else falls into place. I can't wait to see what's in store for me.
