Finding Clarity in the Heights: Reflections on a Powerful Week in NYC

What a week in NYC! 🌍✨ As I reflect on the towering conversations we had - much like the iconic skyscrapers that pierce the NYC skies, their top floors wrapped in mist - I am reminded of the heights we are striving to reach. In a city where even the tallest buildings can disappear into the fog, I found clarity in intimate moments, connecting with community leaders, global leaders, shapers, bridge builders, and resource providers. It felt like everyone in the global development and humanitarian field was represented here this week! We truly are operating in a global village.

I had the great privilege to contribute to several discussions, whether on panels or as a participant. My goal, as always, was to shine a bright spotlight on Africa’s crucial role in shaping our shared future - on our fast-growing strength and power in this space. I also aimed to highlight just how critical it is to embrace and empathise with the rest of the Global Majority, which continues on its journey of resilience and emergence. Though these spaces can be overwhelming, I intentionally sought out quiet moments of connection with both new allies and old friends. These personal exchanges ground me and reaffirm my purpose.

In my world, I long for more of what should be basic to all - peace, prosperity, and laughter; especially in the grassroots communities I represent and belong to. My mission continues to bridge these communities with those in spaces of abundance, knowing that we are all striving toward something greater. Like the building shrouded in mist that caught my attention as I navigated these streets to meet a colleague, our collective vision becomes clear when we look beyond the clouds and focus on the human connections that truly matter.

To everyone I met and reconnected with this week: I look forward to growing together as friends, champions, and allies on this shared journey.

Here’s to rising even higher, together. 🌱🤝 #Collaboration #AfricaSpotlight #GlobalLeadership #MeaningfulConnections #NYC #BuildingBridges
