Finding New Topics for Content on the Website

Hi everyone!

Lasting Trend was recently contacted by a client I met years ago working for another marketing company. He came asking me to help improve his website.

When I gave it a look, I saw a sad situation. Nobody has updated this website for a long time. How did it happen? The previous marketing agency did a great job of optimizing the website. Why has no one continued this good work?

- The services of that agency were VERY EXPENSIVE, and I decided to save money. I thought it would be easy to write for the site myself, - the client answered me.

- But why hasn't it had fresh content added for so long?

- I'M TIRED OF DOING THIS JOB. I don't have the time or inclination to write articles for a website. And I don't have any good content ideas anymore! I don't know what to write about! That's why I came to you.

A blog and news section

A problem that all website owners face. What to write about on the website?

At first, it seems that you have a lot of ideas and will be able to create content for a very long time. But in reality, INSPIRATION DISAPPEARS VERY QUICKLY, and current affairs that require an urgent solution take too much time and effort. How to solve this problem?

I can give you some hints here.

🅐 The most convenient and easiest way to update content is to write a blog and post news. In both cases, you have the opportunity to create new texts regularly. If these articles are optimized and formatted, such content can go a long way in promoting your website.

Take the news that you think is important and interesting, add your comments, and publish. In blogs, you can answer questions from readers, and then the audience will come up with topics for you. It is easier to do than describe the cases (which we discussed in previous articles).

These small posts won't take up much of your time, but website visitors will see that the information is up-to-date and that you're active. And, of course, search engine robots will also see that the site is regularly updated.

🅑 Do not be too lazy to do preliminary research and make a good content plan. Yes, this will require resources, but the result will justify it. A content plan will save you when you don't have good news stories.

🅒 I understand the temptation to pass the blog on to a new employee. But I don't recommend doing it. A blog is a powerful tool for attracting customers and making money - it is a part of your brand. Therefore, an expert should work on the content.

Why is it important to update content regularly?

Content drives traffic to your site. Even if your texts have nothing sensational or extraordinary, they help your site with SEO. It works even better when you create unique content interesting to your audience.

Here are examples of why content is vital for SEO.

  • Your blog and news increase the number of pages on your site. The more pages, the more internal links point to the main page.
  • Internal links matter, but links from other sites are even better. If your article gets reposted on social networks and on other sites, the page rank in search engines increases. The more inbound links you get - the higher your site will rank in the search engines.
  • A constantly updated blog and news section indicates that your site is up to date and you follow it. Active sites rise faster in the Google rankings.
  • A blog and news section will let you rank more keywords you need to promote.
  • You can supplement each new article with photo, video, and audio content, which is also well received by search engines.
  • A blog is a great way to get feedback from your audience. You can post answers to your clients' questions, allow them to comment on their articles, etc.

How to write to be read

  1. Write about relevant problems. While SEO is a big part of website promotion, content must be audience-focused. Therefore, write about the legal problems of your clients. However, make sure these texts don't look like a piece of direct legal advice.
  2. Write accessibly and clearly. Minimize complex legal terms and language. Write your articles for people who don't have a law degree.
  3. Give figures and facts. There should be few numbers so as not to bore readers. On the other hand, expressed in numbers, a fact makes the text more meaningful.

If you still feel that creating content for a legal site is too complicated - you can hire copywriters. They will create content to publish on your site.

Writing articles - just like books - can be intuitive and strictly outlined. Are you a pantser or a planner?

Good luck!
