Finding Resilience in Times of Change

Finding Resilience in Times of Change

With the recent election sparking conversations and emotions across the country, I wanted to share a reflection that’s close to the heart of what it means to be resilient as an entrepreneur.

Albert Camus once wrote:

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me lay an invincible summer.

No matter where we stand politically, elections remind us that change is constant, and each season brings its own challenges and opportunities.

For entrepreneurs, this is a familiar landscape—we navigate uncertainty, adapt to shifts, and stay grounded in our goals. Camus’ “invincible summer” speaks to the resilience within each of us to keep moving forward, fueled by an inner strength that remains steady, regardless of external conditions.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you connect with that strength, especially in times of change.

Step-by-Step Guide to Cultivating Your “Invincible Summer”

  1. Reflect on Your Core Purpose: Revisit your “why.” Why did you start your business? What do you want to contribute to your community or industry? This purpose can be your anchor when external events feel overwhelming.
  2. Set Focused Goals: Break down your vision into smaller, achievable steps. Choose one or two high-priority goals for the next quarter that align with your broader mission.
  3. Strengthen Your Support System Lean on mentors, peers, or a trusted network. Share your challenges and successes. A strong support system provides perspective and reminds you that you’re not alone.
  4. Stay Adaptable: Evaluate areas in your business that could benefit from a new approach. Embracing flexibility keeps you nimble and better prepared to face the unexpected.
  5. Take Care of Your Well-being: Prioritize self-care to keep your energy steady. A daily routine that includes a moment for yourself—even a short break—can make a big difference in sustaining your focus and resilience.
  6. Celebrate Small Wins: Every step forward is progress. Recognize and appreciate these moments—they’re the building blocks of your bigger vision.
