Working Together: Department Reps & Contacts - Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company

Finding Your Rep & UW - The PLM Process

When working on accounts with Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual, you may come in contact with employees from our different departments. In case you haven't worked with them directly, we wanted to introduce who they are and what they do.

Business Development Representatives - Also known as BDRs, this is our elite sales force that provides services for insureds and brokers in their territory. They pre-inspect all new business submissions to ensure an account fits our underwriting appetite, meets our loss control guidelines, and follows our minimum automobile standards.

Loss Control Representatives - Like the BDRs, our LC reps also confirm that accounts meet company guidelines for safety. For customer accounts, they also offer LC recommendations to help keep their operations as safe as possible.

What About My Underwriter?

Identifying the underwriter to work with on an account is important but can depend on a few items when working with PLM:

  • Primary vs. Secondary Manufacturing - there may be a different UW working on heavy mfg. operations like sawmills and pallets vs. light wood manufacturing operations like cabinets or other businesses - Learn More
  • Domiciled State of Account - the UW you work with is usually based on where the insured is and not always where your office may be

Have a question about an account? If you need to find your PLM underwriter, send us a message to have that contact information sent to you today.
