Finish Strong, Start Stronger

Finish Strong, Start Stronger

Hey brother!

Scott here, and let's get real about something that's been on my mind as we roll into December - goals. Specifically, the ones we didn't hit this year.

Yeah, those goals. The ones that make you wince a little when you look at them.

Know what? I've got a few of those myself. That 10,000 men empowered by 2027 goal? Let's just say the scoreboard isn't where I planned it would be at this point.

But here's the thing I've learned about missed goals - they're actually gifts wrapped in sandpaper. They rub you raw, but man, do they teach you something valuable.

Let me take you back a bit...

Remember that martial arts business I told you about? Talk about goals not met. COVID hit right as we opened, construction delays ate our budget, key staff left - you name it, it happened. I could've beaten myself up about it (and trust me, I did for a while).

But you know what that "failure" gave me?

  • Clarity about what I'm really meant to do
  • Understanding of what true alignment feels like
  • A crash course in resilience and reinvention

Here's what I'm getting at:

We've got two choices when we're staring at unmet goals:

  1. Beat ourselves up and spiral into "what's wrong with me" territory
  2. Get grateful for the lessons and channel that energy into finishing strong

I'm choosing option 2. Here's why:

The Gratitude Shift:

  • Instead of "I failed to hit X," try "I learned how to Y"
  • Instead of "I'm behind schedule," try "I'm better prepared now"
  • Instead of "I messed up," try "I've got data on what doesn't work"

In short, I've learned that some of my biggest "failures" set me up for my most important wins.

Your Move for December:

  1. The Gratitude Audit

  • List your "missed" goals
  • For each one, write down what it taught you
  • Identify how these lessons set you up for 2025

  1. The Strong Finish Strategy

  • Pick ONE goal you can still impact in December
  • Break it down into daily actions
  • Focus on progress, not perfection

  1. The 2025 Setup

  • Use your 2024 data to set smarter goals
  • Build on what you learned, not what you missed
  • Start planning from where you are, not where you "should be"

Here's my December commitment: Instead of stressing about the gap between where I am and where I wanted to be, I'm grateful for:

  • Every conversation that helped me refine Corvus's message
  • Every "no" that taught me how to serve better
  • Every setback that made the vision clearer

And I'm channeling all of that into:

  • Showing up stronger for our community
  • Setting up systems for bigger impact in 2025
  • Building on what's working, not dwelling on what didn't

Your Turn:

What goal are you going to reframe with gratitude? What's one thing you can still make happen in December? Drop me a line - let's finish strong together.

Remember: It's not about where you thought you'd be. It's about what you do with where you are.

Keep soaring,

Scott

P.S. Speaking of gratitude - thank you for being part of this journey. Your responses, your stories, your engagement - it all matters. Let's take these last few weeks of 2024 and show ourselves what we're really capable of.

I love your approach, Scott, turning unmet goals into a gratitude practice. The idea of seeing what those "sandpaper gifts" taught us is wisdom right there. Let’s be honest, growth doesn’t happen in the comfort zone. It’s forged in the friction.
